Obi-wan's ANH chest

I'm sure this was mentioned before but I was just surprised how similar this chest in Lex Luthor's lair resembles the chest in Obi-wan Kenobi's pad....it seems to have a front latch as well whereas the Obi-wan chest doesn't...

I posted these closeups before in a previous Obi-wan chest thread...the middle photo was supplied by someone here I cannot recall...the screencap closeups are of the Obi-wan chest...

I guess those chests last a long time to go from a galaxy far away to 1970s America .

I would think that would have a lot to do with
general prop rental. Probably the same chest.

There were (and still are) only a couple of
major prop / dressing companies in London.

I believe that's the back of the chest your pointing to not the front. Those are the hinges.

Can we get this thread merged with the other OWK Chest thread?

Ya you can see on the front of the Luthor chest the big latch in the middle....no such latch on the Obi-wan...

It makes sense if it was a rental although there's that photo of the chest with the SW LFL sign in front? Where was that taken?...

EDIT: thanks for the link to the old thread....yes please merge this thread with that one....I see this was covered...


Here's a comparison I did of that chest PHArchivist photographed....from what I can tell it is the original...the bumps next to the red spots are wider apart than the others in exactly the same positions above and below the "X's".

Does this area with the circle look like part of a latch?
