Obi-Wan Kenobi ROTS Costume Tips

I agree. After seeing it up close at the Star Wars exhibit in Ohio, I can confirm that the dickie sits on top of the cream colored tunic. It's not a vest over a brown tunic.

Lucky guy. :)

The tunic fabric looks pretty good (actually they all look good). The open weave will make it interesting to sew :cry .

Yeah, but do not worry, you will do it just fine. There is a special needle to do that work. :)

"Always a pleasure to help a Jedi". I bought the fabric for the tunic interior. Not too much to show cause It is a normal fabric called taffeta. It is beige color. Keep you updated.

Huge news. I contacted a lady from another forum. She told me that there is a chemical product to buckle the fabric. She did not try it yet, cause she was not interested on that costume. But I presume that will work in my rustic fabric cause is not cotton 100%. So let´s try it. I will get that product and do some testing. I am really excited about that. It will be superb. :D

Not bad looking threads

I saw you were looking for Obi-Wan stuff. Yeah, they are good looking :D. I started to send some swatches around the world. This will be the best Obi-Wan Kenobi costume I ever did.

:( The beige taffeta become pearl gray when I saw it again at my house. So always view samples under various lighting conditions, including fluorescent, incandescent and outdoor in full sunlight. I will have to go again to the store to buy light beige taffeta this week. :) Keep you updated.

If you were there, Maybe you will be able to answer this: I can make my mind about the taffeta color. In some promotional photos looks light yellow, in some exhibit photos looks light beige. What color do you think It is? It is really driving me crazy. :confused

Which part are you talking about? The tunic or the under-tunic?

Randy

Talking about the tunic :) Undertunic has no lining at all I think.

The lining was not visible at the exhibit (the robe covered his hands). I found a hi-res picture on The Padawan's Guide site that should help (2nd row all the way to the right - picture of hand area). It looks beige to me (that's the color I used if it helps).

Randy, were you able to expose the lining to sunlight? Cause I did it today, I tried a light beige taffeta like the one pictured on padawans's guide and did not look so yellow, so this is what is driving me crazy, if you know what I mean. I did not try studio spot lights yet, or camera flash. Maybe that beige color will look light yellow at camera flash. What do you think? do you have a picture of your costume? :love

Well, the promo pics on that sight show it in more light and it looks lighter but I still think it's a beige color, not yellow. It looks pretty close in color to the tunic. I think a light beige would do it.

Thanks a lot. I will buy the light beige taffeta. I will take some pictures and post them all. Hope to get the light yellow efect captured in the promo pics :)
