Obi Wan Jedi Apprentice Saber

who made this... its gorgeous
Honestly I don’t remember, I’ve had it for 10-15 years. I did get it from a very limited run that was done outside of the RPF. Stormpath maybe?

I LOVE the photo analysis here! Crazy to see the photography of real props used in this design.. always loved this one more than the prequel sabers.

At first glance this design felt like a lazy cut and paste job, but watching this process is really making it grow on me. If you decide to do a run I think I'll definitely have to add this to my collection. Especially if it has the uneven rings.

I basically redid the whole thing, LOL. Since its based on Lukes v3 I did the uneven grips and the correct pommel measurements (larger than what i had. Had to make the emitter and TPM shroud larger as well. On the back side I just didnt want to copy others and use the red thumbscrew nor the brass valve so I used another prequel style knob and did a cutout as an omage to Qui Gon's. Its also longer it went from 265mm to 283mm, this needed to be done in order to keep it proportional to the Luke v3 sized grips.

Anyways, here is how it looks so far.

Love the uneven rings and the Obi shroud!

Just a question, is there a particular reason the covertec is in line with the button? I didn’t see any definitive artwork for that detail, and it doesn’t really make practical sense to do that as the wearer’s body would then activate the saber? Also prequel sabers are generally on the 180° line from the buttons or in the case of Obi-Wan, the greeblies are on the thirds.

I agree, the only reason is there is because of the following:

There are 2 side views (different books, left and right). So the only unseen area to add stuff is the back side where the "covertec" is.

In both cases you dont see the covertec or the button... we do see something that resembles a covertec here:

and here

And since I believe that part was probaly taken from the TPM saber, I left the covertec there.

It's not done yet and your input helps me reconcile better ideas.

Clearly, for the second side view they "accidentally" mirrored the, uh, Visual Dictionary promotional photo so we have no idea what's on the other side of the saber. ;)
That makes it worse for me LOL... I am an engineer not an artist... a billion things could be behind the oposing side.
