Obi Cut-away completed.

Man your saber cutaways are just awesome - some of the coolest SW items I've seen full stop. Wish I had the time/skill/money to get even somewhere close to that - but at least we get to see the pics :)

Okay, let me just say this and get it out of the way: I HATE YOU.

I am curious what a 'down the barrel' view looks like. Is there a lenze/crystal in the emitter? Can you see the blue LED light?

Many thanks for sharing this beautiful piece with us.

Here you are Jay.
The lens.

And the 'down the barrel' shot.
I still need to carry out a little clean up here.

I just like to thank everyone who had posted kind words in this thread.
I really appreciate your comments. :thumbsup

Oh - and to everyone who has expressed interest in this - it will be going
on eBay next weekend (we have a new baby girl and we need the money.) so,
I'll update this thread with a link to the auction then.

All the best,

Howard. :)

When you cut it in half, was it hollow inside, or did you have to remove any center?

I used a Parks saber, bought off eBay. Then added a Gavidoc emitter and an original plastic 1980s AS handwheel.
So the parts were hollow to begin with.
When I get around to building another I'll use Roman's parts, apart from the 'booster' section which has to be a Parks 'radiator' as it has the extra material either side of the fins to aid mounting in the clamp and handwheel.
And yes - I forgot to add in the last post, I'm working on a Vader ANH next.

Howard.

Quick. Get that under glass-- I wouldn't want to have to keep it dusted... ;)

Howard, it's simply jaw-droppingly astonishing work. Thank you for posting the full shots as well-- an inspiration to us all.

well done.

Years from now, people are gonna be scratching their heads trying to find the parts to make a replica of this. :)

anyone here ever almost vomit from seeing something so cool?

i have a reacurring problem everytime i open one of howards cutaway threads...

just SICK man. JUST FRICKEN SICK...

i cant even imagine having that good of a replica... let alone a cutaway masterpiece that makes ILMs prop dept seem like unimaginative untalented junkyard kitbashers...

in case all that rambling didnt get my point across...

nice work. :thumbsup :thumbsup

Howard,

How many threads is this now for the same saber? Show-off.

Seriously though, I'm sure this will fetch a mint on e-bay. I just love the pic where you are holding it.
