O.T. helmet makers needed.

I am looking to finish my O.T. helmet collection in the next six months or so.

RS is just too expensive for their Imperial Gunner and Snowtrooper helmets.

So I am looking for makers of the following:

Kits or full builds.

Imperial Gunner

Snowtrooper

ATST

A wing, B wing, and Y wing. I know Golden armor makes kits but no one likes them, and RS did that very limited run but nothing new coming from them.

Green Leader X wing. I know this one is a long shot but the R.S. one seems to be taking forever and I may just re-paint a Hasbro.

I am looking at the various 501st legion boards but some, like the Imperial Gunner, have had no activity, others seem to be hard to get into, etc.

Any help with maker recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I would go with Far Away Creations for the Imperial Gunner, since they made the ones in Rogue One. They have a AT-ST and Snowtrooper helmets as well. For X wing helmet kits either them or D-HPF/X.

Frank Rosendahl used to make the other rebel pilot helmets, but not anymore. The Golden Armor Y wing isn't all that accurate. Sowbug Props has a good B wing helmet.

Thank you so much for all the info. I seem to remember Far and Away creations being, I guess very behind, with delivery? Do any members know if that has been taken care of?

Thanks again.

Okay that is good as I just ordered several things from his Etsy shop.

Thanks again for the help.

Far Away Creations isnt the same company they were 10 years ago. Yes they got behind back then. But this year I ordered a Snowtrooper. I had it under 3 months. It only took that long because plastic supplies have been a real thing.

Good to hear. I am very excited for my helmets.

Thanks for the info.

Not certain about current availability or options, but Richie's Armor does an ROTJ Y-Wing helmet that appears quite accurate.

(I believe there have been multiple iterations so note that you may find some old threads around that are critical of shape in previous versions).

I got the kit form and have not started the build yet, but by comparison to Prop Store photos of the real thing I believe it nails the overall shape. My only *very minor* quibbles are that the forehead "pin connector" recess isn't quite set up to allow installation of the greeblie without modification, and that the fidelity of some of the 3D printed greeblies isn't terribly sharp. Both of those are simply due to the realities of production, not knocks against the quality of workmanship. The fact it will require a "seam split" to be added in order to fit my apparently giant cranium is a complaint I can only direct at my genetic contributors

Not unless they have a newer sculpt than the fifteen+ year-old one shown on that site, IMHO. Back when they had made their sculpt there had been practically no reference pictures available, so they had got some details wrong.
I built a RA kit in 2009 after a real helmet had (at last) been displayed in exhibits, and I felt that to make the kit accurate, I had to resculpt the shape in places and build new greeblies. There have been a few better kits available since then.

If you had bothered to read the second paragraph of my post, you could've saved an awful lot of typing.

Thank you for all the info guys. Atomic Toybox can you clarify because actually I am a little confused. Are you saying your purchase from Richie's armor is recent? I have tried numerous times to get a hold of him and had no luck. His website has the same X wing pics that have been there for, I think over a decade, and the website is the same. I tried again a few days ago but nothing so far.

I read your entire post but it is a little unclear.

Thanks

Tom

I purchased directly from Richies Armor via email a year ago ( richsarmor - at - aol - com).

As I stated I can't speak to current availability, and I haven't compared the kit I received to whatever is displayed on his site, I just know I read of earlier versions and inaccuracies when researching the purchase that were not issues with the product I received.

That is great news. Thank you. Maybe he does not update his website. I will try his email.

Thanks
