Well its not displayed on premier any more so I am guessing some one has won it?

Have to look into that.

Ok I emailed them, hopefully they can shed some light on the matter

Bump then I am going to let it die off, unless anyone else can figure out any thing. Im at a bump in the road for now.

It's nice to see that this prop has a very cyclical, predictable life cycle :lol.

Every year or so we go through the same thing. New member wants to try and get the project going, we post some screen caps, get some ideas as to what the original parts were (if anything), theorize on how to sculpt it and then watch it die.

The Discovery Channel should do a special on the life cycle of the Jurassic Park NVGs :lol.

The thread might die off but I am actually going to see it through 1 way or another.

Doing some drawings right now

After Watching the Video a bunch of times and look at the prop pics, I noticed 2 black rocker switches 1 on each side of the goggles, 1 controls the power and the other controls the zoom of the Lens.

Hopefully this puts me a little bit closer

Done this drawing of what I think the Goggles actuall look like, ginna use this as the model for the balsa, then try to vac form it.

The problem is not really how to do it, its weather it should function like it does in the movie or jus make them non fuctional?

Any thoughts on what you would like?
I know a fuctioning pair would rock but, thats what seems to kill this project every time.
So would non fuctional be ok?

qft!

Oooh, looks like the new cycle is about to start :lol

I think we should start like a national NVG day holiday or something. Every year, on the same day, we start looking into making the NVGs. Then we flop around a bit while throwing around ideas (but never making any progress) and then let the thread die.

Okay, November 10th will be JP NVG day.

I'll start off the celebration...

Here are a couple of pictures of the screen used NVGs... hey, I have an idea, what do you guys think about taking a shot at making a replica of these?

Exactly what I was thinking, with all the talent on this board. Or at least buy a similar found part and build it up/modify it to be accurate.

I guess you two didn't get the memo - we're only allowed to discuss building these things, not actually build them. Building them would invalidate the very spirit of Nation JP NVG Day :lol.

This g'dam thing appears deceptively simple. I mean hey - its a typical damn workshop protecive eye wear thing, with welders goggles or whatever stuck to it, with some friggin' camera lenses thrown on. Why CAN'T we build it?
