Re: Gundam Costume

I haven't checked this thread for a while you've stuck this out an look at your progress I'm really impressed /w/ what you've done so far great job!!! you should really cover th' cardboard /w/ either comic book backs or poster board ta cover th' corrugation lines run some hot glue along fh'edges ta seal them then use a piece of cardstock ta smooth it out you may have ta use more than one piece though it gets pretty gummy friction heats up th' hot glue an smooths it out. Sent good luck an keep up th' great work:p:cool:

Gundam Costume

I started on the feet. Not happy with the calves but there is no time for revisions anymore. It has to be presented in may/june. If it is finished, and there is extra time, I might revise them. For now; just building as a madman inbetween work. Disregard the mess please.

Re: Gundam Costume

I was bored so I did a test walk on with the legs. Works quite well actually. I'm going to cheat with the feet though. They aren't right, but like said earlier, no time to change big things anymore, so cheating it will be! However,

Your gundam suit looks really good. I hope mine turns out as good as yours. XD

Re: Gundam Costume

Guess who has been building again?

It's not as clean as I wanted it to be, but yeah. First robot-suit ever. To be honest, this is the first costume I do COMPLETELY myself. The others are done with help or putting it together with parts. This is my first complete costume.... Even though it's not finished and not clean at all, I'm still very proud of it. Especially the electronics now.

Might need to shift the eyes a bit, but at least they work.

Pretty much how it stands at the end of the day. The legs are not even near finished AT ALL. The feet are almost done.

And I found a way to attach the shoulders. Although I need waaay more foil than I thought I would. So I have to order that again.

:)

Re: Gundam Costume

I have decided that, even though I said I wouldn't, I will REDO the legs. THey bother me WAY too much. She has lost all her sleekness. I don't care how long it will take, as long as it looks different. Probably looking for different material too.

Also;
Closeup for fun.

Re: Gundam Costume

So I remembered I had white trousers, so I could use those as upper legs, and then make lower legs. This would make the legs sleeker so I did a test today. Also, a friend was with me so I finally could get nice pics.

I think I am. I had thigh-armor, but it looks very bulky, even when it fits tightly around my legs. While the white pants give this sleeker look. (and I will have a pocket for my lenses). It also gives me more moveability.

Did the arms, it's nearing completion. I only really have to get to the bottom legs and I just try and try and can't get it done properly. However, I might have found a way... and the hair. Gloves are done too.

Did the hair today. Finally got some nice foam. No EVA though. Glad I took an extra roll of foam because I severely understimated the length of the hair piece. However, finished the shape and did the first layer of paint.

Since it's foam, it flows and moves, so manouverability is not really a problem.
