Nobell Gundam || G-Gundam

Re: Gundam Costume

try to heat up your edges a bit and pinch them together to get a cleaner seam. theres a bit of a gap and it wont look good painted.. if it wont squish together, fillit with more hotglue .
but the first way is better then the second

Re: Gundam Costume

I won't start painting yet. It needs cleaning up (I said so on the last post) but I'm still proud of the shape. It's way better than the original chest. Tomorrow another day. Think I'll be doing the sailor thing.

For painting, I guess I'll first go and take a few tests. It would be sad if the paint eats the foam away because I didn't seal it or something.

Re: Gundam Costume

Done some work again. the foam mat is completely finished now, still some rest pieces. The cirle in the middle will be lit with LED's so didn't put that one in place yet.
I'm really proud of this actually. With the different colors, it's sometimes hard to see imperfections and correct them. I will correct stuff when it's sealed and primed so I can see imperfections better.
Why? The air-outlet(?) in the middle underneath the ribbon looks off-center. However, up close it's okay. One of those things I'll change when I primed it.

It makes me feel good. I've had some issues with self-confidence this year and it's growing slowly. This helps a great deal, just like sports and work. But this really makes me feel like I CAN do something good. :$

the back slits you see are held together by velcro so I can slip in :)

Re: Gundam Costume

Thanks! :)

So I got my corrugated plastic in and started working on the belt. I think it's looking good. And I got a test with paint, to see how it reacts. It reacts better on the plastic than on the cardboard. But this is no where near the final piece. It actually might be 'removed' again. Hence the sloppy paintjob.

Re: Gundam Costume

i think the leg covers are a little big. the length is fine, but the width overwhelms the rest of the figure.

Re: Gundam Costume

I do agree that the flaps are too wide. The side flaps of the skirt will give the width of the hips so the front flaps don't have to be that big.
Looking at the figure you did make the skirt too long.
You will need to lift your legs after all.
Since this is a female based Gundam she needs some leg length.
If they stay that length you wont see any leg.The knee pads are going to cover even more of the leg since they raise up over the knee.

The shoulder pads are too big. They will make the Gundam look manly. If they where smaller that would help sell the female look. Just don't make them too small.

Here is a quick edit of how the skirt would look equal length to the crotch. Also smaller shoulder pads placed higher.

The shoulders will be done over anyway. I hate them now. I do think that the flaps in the shop are too small. They are longer than the crotch. However, I'll take a look in making them a bit smaller. Maybe taking off the side grid will make them look less bulky already.

Edit: I'm taking them apart now and I suddenly remember what I did wrong... The 'front' of the flaps was supposed to be the back.......... and I completely forgot. I'm so stupid :lol

Here's one flap without the sides.

I guess I'm just not clear in my mind. Pretty much balancing on a nervous breakdown. I guess costuming keeps me sane...more or less. :lol

Re: Gundam Costume

that model is not very proportional compared to the other gundams.

Re: Gundam Costume

the legs are about right. the body is smaller then normal. most of the waist is missing

Re: Gundam Costume

i dont really know about other female gundams. i am just comparing to theres in the series.
i do think this is doable, but might not end u being to comfortable to wear when complete.
i guess we will see when its done.

Re: Gundam Costume

Would be nice to meet up at the eff and really duel as gundam and spidey :lol

Re: Gundam Costume

I don't think I'll be going to any con soon, but I want to try in 2013 at least once!

I made me a dummy...more or less.

At this point the whole thing hurt my back and shoulders like crazy.

I'm one for weird expressions and my BF wanted a low-shot. He likes it when I'm tall in pictures, however, he's the tall one at 6"4'..

"phew, that's done..."

:lol

I'll be filling it with things I don't even know yet.

I'm also 'sealing' the chest with the white PVA glue-like glue.
