Re: Gundam Costume

oh if you can get it expansion foam is excellent for making dummies like that fill evenly! and its dead strong after it sets

This might have been the angriest paintjob I ever did. All my emotions are like a rollercoaster. But it works like a charm. It made me concentrate and less frustrated. It's like a therapy.

So I'll be working on this again.

When it's dry I'll do the pinstripe on the sailorscarf..

Re: Gundam Costume

So, I have a laptop from a friend now so I more or less can do things online. However, I still feel absolutely frustrated, angry, empty and sometimes just ill. Part of me is just empty now. So I went back to therapy.

A few notes:

-I think the lower 'red' waist section might be adjusted or done over, but right now, I'm not satisfied with it. But it's good enough for a first con (if I make it, that will be may)

-I scaled down the front flaps and made the side flaps. I'm also experimenting with paints and how it works on the materials. Spray paint didn't catch on on the foam. On the plastic I'm testing several ways and colors. Not quite sure about it though.

-The legs are adjustable. Now they are hanging quite low for editing purposes. Rather satisfied with them thusfar. I scaled them a bit down because at first they were massive.

-The chest is nearly finished, just letting it rest now until I'm able to install electronics.

-I burnt my finger. Again.

Enjoy the 'progress'

Re: Gundam Costume

Redoing the helmet. Looks way better than the first. It fits better too. :)

I know it looks 'off center' but that's on purpose, because the cardboard/duct tape structure was a bit crooked. It pulls it a bit more straight. It's supposed to look okay when painted.

I also got geen 'film' for the chest and eyes. Installing electronics soon now.

Re: Gundam Costume

AH! I have to slap myself across the face! :lol

Luckily it's on the back of the helmet and easily to fix with some 'bondo', but while soldering LED's for the helmet, the soldering bolt touched the helmet....and it melted a bit away. The reason why the helmet was so close? To measure cables!

:lol :lol :lol

Haven't changed or made them yet. So yeah... First thing that will be done will be the legs I think.

Re: Gundam Costume

I can't tell you enough how happy I am that you're making a Nobell Gundam cosplay. G GUNDAM FOREVERRRRR! I cosplayed Master Asia awhile ago so my inner fanboy is rejoicing. It's looking good! Keep it up!

Re: Gundam Costume

Thanks for your kind words! Nobell Gundam is a rare cosplay as I see it. Lately I haven't done much, since I 'have' to finish my fighter pilot first now. More or less. But the gundam itches me more :D

You know what I've been thinking of lately? The hair.

The legs, the arms, the body and all... it's rather easy now I understand the material and how it works. But.... the hair.

HOW DO YOU DO HER HAIR?! :lol

I'm thinking of foam, so it's still flexible to a certain extent. But that's going to haunt me for a while though.

Gundam Costume

So after a few weeks of nothing, I decided I'd finish the shinguards. I also decided that I'll use sticky plastic on top of it, instead of painting. Although I tried a new way of spaypainting and it seems to go well actually. However; pics!

Be aware though, that the 'calves' aren't finished yet. I need to get foam to fix that. So this is a bit skinny but it will change.
