Nintendo! (Now 1:5 SCALE) Miniature Consoles

Awesome, thanks for the offer! I'll let you know. You wouldn't happen to have a Sega SG-1000 would you? They're pretty hard to come by, and the last few I saw were outrageously priced on eBay.

Also, Gameboy Color!

Sadly no, the earliest sega i have at the moment is the genesis, i need to get around to getting a master system at some point. I really want to get a sega cd but they were so fragile when it came to the lasers that buying them used can be nerve wracking.

Yeah, early CD technology was so finicky. Some of those drives still work to this day and could take a beating. Other companies, their drives broke in a week. I have one of each model of Sega CD but I haven't had a chance to test out either. I generally buy them from people who have tested them and call it a day. I have too many systems in my collection to test them all lol.

I mostly have US systems and test them when they come in. I want to get a smaller flatscreen for the old ones as it's a hassel to climb behind the big tv to plug stuff in lol.

I know that feeling, haha. At my old place, I had a bunch of power strips and switch boxes so I could have multiple systems plugged in at a time and just flip through the channels on the box to get to the one I wanted. Now I just keep most of my systems stored away in plastic bags and bins to protect them. I'd like to open a museum one day, but even with 600+ systems in the collection, I've barely scratched the surface of console history. That number includes everything from home consoles to handhelds, by the way.

Also, GBA! This one was a lot of fun, I really hope all these handhelds aren't too small to print in the WSF material. If so I may have to shell out some extra money for the FUD plastic Shapeways offers.

GBA Micro, the smallest one yet! I'm posting the additional photo with digital quarter size comparison.

I'm a bit worried about the front frame as a separate part since the walls are so thin, but the middle section including the faceplate and the R/L buttons are a separate piece to make painting them easier, so we'll see if it holds up during the process.

I may have to get this one as well as the other handhelds printed in the detail plastic which is more expensive but can handle smaller details and thinner walls.

Just finished the Nintendo DS. Just like the SP, this one has a working flip screen.

Naturally, both screens are modeled separately.

I'm taking a break from the Nintendo handhelds for now, starting with the Neo Geo Pocket Color by SNK. Not a popular handheld in the U.S. but a great handheld for it's time and still holds up today against the likes of the GBA.

Famicom! I modeled the cords as separate pieces so that they can be omitted if so desired and actual small gauge wires can be used instead.

First up, the Panasonic 3DO. It's a pretty ugly system, all things considered...

I had the second gen panasonic 3DO. I played the first Need for Speed game on that system.
australia runs the PAL tv standard rather than NTSC that usa used. so it was a lot of mucking around to get it working. plus i had to sell my megadrive/cd combo to raise the money.

You should make a 1:3 scale hollow console that could fit a Raspberry Pi in it. Then use it as an emulation box! :D

I've had people ask me if the 1:5 scale ones are functional lol. That would be pretty sweet, though I'm not sure how the 3d printed plastics would handle that application. Do those little Rasberry Pi computers heat up like laptops? Also, it would be great to 3d print a little tube TV and implement a GBA Micro or SP screen into the face for display :)

They don't get too hot unless you really overclock them. Even then they're not too bad. I'm sure they would be fine. :)

The famicom and super famicom i actually have minis of from japan. Probably cheaper to 3d print yours lol. Suckers are expensive for being 1/6 and i don't even have all of them. Closest thing to the original famicom i have right now is an alarm clock and a box of famicom games i got cheap.

Send me the famicom so i can test them lol. Actually i got quite few doubles in the lot. These mini consoles are making me want to open up some shelf space in my collection big time.
