NIKE, you can go to hell. I'm making my own NIKE MAG's *NEW LED's* 12-21 pg.21

Re: NIKE, you can go to hell. I'm making my own NIKE MAG's *EL SOLES* 11-15 Pg. 14&

Hi jedifyfe I am new to this but i really love what you are doing here. but i don't know two important things first where can i get mark poons shoes I've looked all over and can't find them and what is the "pink foam" you talked about earlier and what does it do?

The "pink foam" is a type of foam insulation that can be glued together and sculpted. I had considered using that to sculpt the shoe form but ultimately just used my original sculpt.

Thanks!:thumbsup

Looks ace! Are the el soles now integrated into the main circuit with the rear cup LEDs now too?

Also, how is the white leather insert coming along? Im guessing your going to work on enlarging the cup next as that's really the only thin left to do in my opinion, maybe add some more blue speckles to the sole for the finishing touch.

Would be mind sending me a quick on how you did the last and the main foam sculpt of the shoe Brad? I'm due to get my Poons in the next few days and might have a go myself.

looks very very good. it is always motivating seeing your progress. My Problem is time at the moment. because of my work i just don't have tiume to work on my mags.

Could you show a picture of your electronics? did you just use one inverter?

I am working on the white part. It is a little more challenging that I expected. I hope to have some help soon.

I am not going to resculpt the heel cup. It is ok at this point but yes I plan on adding some more blu splashes of paint (i already have the perfect color)

I believe there are already shots of the last earlier in my thread but I basically sculpted a base out of Floral Foam and covered it with air dry clay, then covered that with bondo.

...I just don't have tiume to work on my mags.

I wish you did have more time. I would LOVE to see someone else tackle these.

I will post a pic of the electronics when I have them complete. Yes I am using one converter. I hope to wire up the RED,YELLOW and GREEN LED's this week. We'll see. :love

Thanks again for all the encouragement. I truly appreciate it.

Here are some low-light shots. As you can see I have yet to glue the sole back into place. I want to make sure that the wires are secure before I do that.

Yea, I can imagine that's a hard bit to do. Does it just sit inside the top lip of the shoe or will it line the shoe?

Shame, I think it's the only section that really gives it away now and it would give you more room for your LED section also. Then again, I don't have a clue how hard this is to do so i'll shut it :lol

Fair does, think I'll go get some and have a bash!

You might just get your wish. I've contacted quite a few shoe makers, prop builders, costume builders etc. here in the UK today so I hope to get some positive responses to help build the upper shoe perfectly. If not, I'll give it a shot myself with your material advice etc. What did you use on top of the last to create the soft but sturdy shoe itself?

If it all fails badly, hopefully by that time you may feel up to converting another pair :)

Don't think anyone can disagree to be honest. I'm off to see an experienced shoe maker when I receive my MarkPoons to see what we can do, i.e. rebuild the upper section.

Thanks Frosty!

I wired both EL sheets to one inverter and one on/off button. I then temporarily glued the soles back.

Remember, this is a testing shoe and NOT what will be final. You can see the exposed wires at the top, that I will eventually run throught the back of the shoe(hidden by the ankle strap. I also plan on using flat wiring tape on the inside of the ankle strap, so the wires are not as obvious.

is this a inverter which comes with two connections or did you just connect the two cables to a normal inverter by yourself?

I used a normal inverter and spliced in another set of wires that go to the NIKE logo.

BTW Chris, can we see some updates on your shoes soon? PLEASE!

I will try. But I think not bevor next week. Because of my work in the advertising business i have to work the whole weekend. So there won't be any new progress until Sunday evening. I have reworked the foam patterns so I will start a completly new shoe from the start. I also can't wait to go on with the work, your awsome progress is killing me :D

So once the last is done, what material did you use to create the foam shoe then Brad?

Awesome!! now this looks like it aint going back!!

how much you paid for the EL Panel?? how many panel required for each sole? 1 piece or 2 pieces for each semi-circle?

I use 6mm craft foam sheets. I use 2 per shoe (one for the front half of the shoe and one for the back half). I put them in the oven at 400 degrees for about 20-30 seconds then pucll them out and instantly press form them onto the last. They cool really quick (usually about 45 seconds)

Cheers Brad, nice of you to share the tips. Hopefully mine will arrive tomorrow to start work. Any chance I could buy some of your material precoloured? I promise to credit you if mine turn out ok :)

Right now, I need to hold onto the fabric that I have. I am actulally quickly running out. I thought I would have enough fabric for a lot of shoes but I have to dye 2 yards at a time to get consistent coloring.

I found other material that I might get as well and try and dye that. If it turns out looking like I want it to, then I can sell you some.

As for the EL sheet in the soles. It is one single EL sheet.
