Nike Mag's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

I'm also recording all of the auction final details, so let me know if you miss anything and I can help fill in the blanks...

I'll make the spreadsheet available when it's all finished as well if anyone wants it.
Cool.. thanks Rik.

Thanks Sarni.

I think I have come to a decision NOT to get these shoes. Since I have a good feeling one of three things will happen:

1) Asian Knockoffs ------Awesome then you can have a pair to wear and the real ones to display
2) These will be released in 2015 -----I don't buy it brad nike in 3 years won't give a crap about this shoe and work on a better design for a powerlace option.look at the hyperdunk release no one cares about them anymore
3) Someone, at some time will need money and dump these for under $2k ------I here ya but will you really trust that person didn't abuse the shoes are wear out the lights function?.

This has been a tough decision but since I am one not to jump and buy the newest release of something. JUST GET THEM WHY TAKE THE CHANCE

Congrats to you guys that got these. :thumbsup

I understand what you are saying Mike.

My problem is that in my opinion, these are not worth more than maybe $1500-$2000, maybe.

I have never bought anything that I felt I was overpaying for. And if I bought these now, I would feel that way.

These are something that I have wanted since I saw them in the movie BUT I just can't believe that NIKE won't capitalize on these.

The fact is that NIKE fans and BTTF fans WON'T let NIKE forget about this project. I think you will see another round of petitions and sneakerheads making sure that NIKE makes these with power laces.

Everything that I am seeing on this run was purposeful to make the fans RUSH out and buy these for HUGE amounts for the MJFF.
1) The secrecy
2) The limited run
3) The Ebay auction times
4) The short time frame from release to auction

All this leads me to believe that NIKE just wanted to get as much expsure in as little of time as they could to generate the FRENZY that they got.

It doesn't sit well with me. Not about the auction and prices, just that they went about this the way that they did. This leads me to believe that these WILL be released.

Maybe I am kidding myself, but there are now 1500+ pairs of these that I will have the option in the future of finding for sale. Before this, I had about 3-4 pairs of screen used pairs to look for. My odds just increased incredibly.

I think it is really great that you guys are cool with it and I am sure you will enjoy these. I just can't bring myself to get there.

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

Yep I agree with ya Brad, im in the same boat of thinking about these on all your points.

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

The sense of entitlement in this thread is getting a little overwhelming.

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

I am curious for someone to work up an average price "value" for each size - based on all the auction prices. I doubt these will decrease in value - at least not for a long time. Even the Hyperdunks still fetch alot of money.
As far as our pal Brad is concerned, I agree that I believe these will come out again at some point - maybe with power laces, maybe with an altered design. I can't say really. But I do believe these shoes are a result of Nike developing the REAL Nike Mag for down the road and thier efforts to get these out quickly were all to benefit the fact the Michael's condition is getting worse.
I don't regret spending the money - I am happy it is going to charity and not a bloodsucking, greedy reseller. I'm not happy about how Nike chose to market these, but we still don't know what they have up their sleeves.
They could have been developing these for an official wide release in 2015 but knew they could not wait that long to help Michael, so they rushed a great non-self lacing version as soon as they could.
Sure, the prices are outrageous - but those prices are not decided by Nike. They are determined by the bidders, and as it stands now, people are willing to pay 3k+ for these shoes.

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

I am cataloging all the prices, per day, sorted by size and then price with averages (overall average per day, overall average per size per day, and then total averages when its all over...) I'm very curious about the totals myself... :)

I'll probably cave and seriously try for a pair tonight or tomorrow (based on what I've seen auctions do, it's probably not a good idea to wait until the last day, I suspect prices will rise again as people realize it's their last chance.)

As for re-sales, someone is already trying to sell a pair 'to save his marriage'. I suspect he wants what he paid for them at least (there's a reserve) though. Someone else has listed a pair with a $10k BIN, and $6k starting bid... Not sure what he expects to get from that when there's still hundreds to go selling for ~$3k... I'm sure more will come to market, but I wouldn't be surprised if the price holds in the $2.5k+ range, at least for a while...

From a certain point of view, there's some safety in buying them now. If you get a little buyer's remorse later (or realize you can't really afford them (or a significant other realizes that for you)) you probably won't have much difficulty getting your money back... As long as you don't wear them. :cool

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

Thank you for taking the time to work out the average prices.
I agree on all points made above.:thumbsup

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

The sense of entitlement in this thread is getting a little overwhelming.

Not sure who that was pointed at but if it was me, I don't feel entitled at all. I just know that other members were expecting me to get a pair as well and I felt that I needed to vent outloud why I can't bring myself to buy them. That is all. If you want to read more into that then what it is, then sit back with some popcorn and have at it.

@GFrosty. I am 100% possitive that you WON'T have buyers remorse. You will absolutely LOVE these. Even if the shoes dropped to $1500, so what. You have a pair that you will get more than $2550 worth of enjoyment out of.

Personally I would rather spend $3K on these shoes than a GB Proton pack but I just can't make myself believe that I won't be able to get these later for the price I want. For at least one of the 4 options I stated above.

My annology, is like the MR SE Boba Fett blaster. I wanted one when they were released but I waited. I waited until I grabbed one for $400 shipped. The same goes for the MR Stormtrooper blaster that I got for $300 shipped and my Rebel Fleet Blaster that I got from a member here for $150 shipped. All my Premium Format Figures that I got for pennies on the dollar.

The fact is that THESE will be sold for less, it's just being able and ready to buy them when they do come down. 1500+ pairs is a lot of shoes to not have quite a few people get in a position of needing the cash at some point.

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

Brad, I really hope you are right. And you may very well be - you, like I have been in the hobby long enough to know the trends.
I truly hope you are right - so that you can get a pair AND so everyone else can as well. It also would not hurt for me to get a second pair to wear!!

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

I personally doubt that Nike will ever release another run of those. These are replicas of a movie prop and not shoes intended to wear. What I especially like is that they put a lot of effort in it to make it as screen accurate as it can get. I think this is more a publicity thing for Nike. Doing something for the good cause is always good for a companie's reputation. Nike's business is selling shoes, not prop replicas. Nike is not MR. Though, your chances to get a used one at a later point might be pretty good. I'm sure with 1500 in the market there will be a lot coming to ebay in the next years...But I'm not as confident with the price as you. You'll never know where the market is going. Maybe they will sell for less than 1k maybe they will go up to 5k. I personally think they will stay in the 2-3k range.

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

I agree that these will stay in the 3-3k range.
Anyone who sells thier pair will want AT LEAST what they paid, if not a little less.
We are either going to see a ton of Buy It Now listings for that range as well as the super-inflated price ranges of 6 to 10k.
If/when Nike releases a power lacing version, you can expect similar price tags if not higher, especially if they are limited.
Nike now knows how much people are willing to spend on these - and that's a bad and a good thing.
Bad, since they can make a judgment on how much they choose to sell them for.
Good, since they will continue to develop the "Mag" shoe for a future release as I believe was thier intent all along.

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

I personally doubt that Nike will ever release another run of those.

Maybe, but I am not only betting on this but that there will be knockoffs and resells at lower prices. I have seen it time and time again.

Yes these shoes were not intendend for "normal" wear but NIKE knows that sneakerheads buy shoes NOT to wear, yet NIKE still produces shoes for them. This is the EXACT reason why NIKE will release these again.

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

Petition signed and posted on my FaceBook. Thanks for the heads up.

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!

No offense, but I hope the price for these skyrockets (at least here on the primary market..secondary I couldn't care any less about)

The money (again..at least for this first round of sales) isn't just for the shoes, its also going to help a great cause. So the more they go for the better (now...that's coming from someone who does Parkinson research...so I may be a bit biased lol)

Not biased at all. I agree, I hope they go for a ton of money. But before anyone starts posting their opinion, the petition is for 2015!!! 3 years after the auction. Seriously, read it first before posting here and making a fool out if yourself.

Re: Nike McFly's - It's About Time - VIDEO!
