I tried my best not to tell a bunch of people at work today about me buying the shoes - most won't understand why so much money would be spent on a pair of shoes.
I did however share it with my stage manager since he is in the hobby of vintage sports card buying and selling and understands high price tags in a hobby like this.

Don't tell them you bought the shoes, tell them about the amount of money you donated to worthy charity...

And they gave you a cool gift as a bonus. :cool

I used to own one of the original screenused shoes, worn by MJF and still have all the exact measurements and they were definitely not a size 8.
Max. would be a size 7. MJF has very tiny feet. My bet is that the size 7 shoes in the auction are a 1:1 replica (size wise) of the original shoes. They may even casted parts of an original pair. They did a great job on those replicas. They look 99.9% correct. Would be very interesting to have exact dimensions of a size 7 shoe.

I wish the size 7 auctions would stay under a grand so I could get a pair. I would gladly share the measurements. I've always wanted these shoes just like everyone else. I even wear high top shoes that remind me of the Mags when I first saw them. Same height as MJF so this might give you an idea what high top shoes would look like for someone of the same stature.

I wouldn't doubt that in 2014-2015 we will se a reincarnation of this show with power laces.

NIKE has rushed this shoe due to the physical deterioration of MJF in hopes that they can raise a LOT of money (which I applaud). I have no doubt that NIKE will release these in the future (no pun intended).

As for the fabric...it isn't shimery. It is quite dull.

I don't think it's that dull. It's flat but it seems to almost reflect light.

I don't know enough about fabric to really explain what I mean - It just doesn't seem like a regular cotton blend or anything.

Well, we will know soon enough, but i agree, it seems to have no sheen, its a flat gull grey to my eye, the weave seems to just throw off a lighter hue under flash photography?

It looks like Jumbo Weave Spandex.

When I held these shoes in person the entire upper of the shoe felt rigid. There is an under structure of dense foam that they used as the skeleton.

Looks like there is an inner shell the fabric is bonded too, then seamed at the lace insert area.
Bonding the fabric to this shell, would make the laces keep that raised pattern?
Does that even make sense lol?

Ah cool, i always see some sewing stuff that looks like the inside of most of my shoes. Kinda looks almost like a canvas i think, comes in 20"x3' or so
