@cavx how big would I have to print the nike logo to look ok on the hc mags? I don't want to make the straps for this too thick becuase the shoe is already shorter then the rd and the v2 mags and I feel like having the "normal" size straps and logo will make them look even stumpier I thought of maybe using el tape since it comes in at 1.5cm tall

I think what is needed to do with that strap logo sheet is to reduce the size of the bitmap my about 5%, then fill in the black border just to keep the rescale the same.

If you undersize it will, IMO, look funny since the actual shoe-body isn't smaller, just the neck/collar.

I've been thinking about doing a mod to match the og in height, any ideas?
You would have to split the shoe at the seam under the strap. Then you could remove the structure there, and replace it with your own structure out of something like EVA foam. Then you'd have to source a near identical grey fabric to cover that structure with, glue it, sew it, and then built a new white cuff as well.

It would be very tough to do right and make last...and would be especially difficult to find a matching fabric that won't make your shoes look like they're two-tone.

Can someone post the strap template again? It took me forever to fin it last time and I didn't save it because I'm a freaking bojo

I can't quite remember if anyone modded the bubble to stick out like the rd mags I'm pretty sure it's been done but was it ever explained how?

I am in the process of creating a new part that will still out further and will be made from the same UV stabilized clear that my soles are made from. I should be able to make them frosted.

Interesting. Is the plastic you added curved already? Where did you source it?

To be honest it's a plastic bottle that I trimmed down, so it was already curved. Again, not exactly the most sophisticated but it does what I want.

Like you said Cavx, the V2's are not perfect but certainly are fun to play around with. I just want to make a shoe that I can wear about and looks at close to the movie shoes as possible :)

did you have to male a new part or how was it done? @cavx any time frame on those?
Ended up making a jerry rigged vacuformed air bubble that I installed to raise the original what do you guys think? image.jpg

No time frame at this time.

I need to completely re-sculpt my master to include the rim that prevents it coming all the way through. This mock up was rough and needs to be more rounded. As you can see the parts can be made to be frosted out of the mold.

Ultimately I will also make myself a new set of heel cups with larger MAG on them.

Awesome!

That is a good start.

If you have opened up the ankle bubble area, you can pop out the bubble completely and cut off the edges and reglue it back in carefully.
So it will stick out more.
I think it was actually someone else on this thread who did it first ages back, then we all tried it out, if you do a search it should come up.

But basically if you look at how the bubble piece is glued from the back, all you are doing is cutting that area around it off, so you will be left just with the bubble and no surrounding piece.

A newly cast piece by cavx would be great, simply pop out the old and glue in the new one which will already have a much bigger size.

Definitely makes the side profiles look better. I wish it was slightly bigger though, If i recall correctly, from various pics and Jedifyfe's original Nike Mags, the original ones seem to have a slightly bigger bubble area than what we get on these replicas.

It looks like the real nike mags have slightly more spacing in height between each row of LEDs. Its probably very minor and not noticeable to the eye anyway, but it would probably make soldering things on a board slightly easier with more spacing.

Yes it is interesting how they over-sized things like the SWOOSH, the laces and the cuff, yet the details of cast parts were made under-sized. The Heel Cup really bugs me know and I just that part to bulge out more at the back. Looking at mine, it might just be too big a risk to list as a viable mod.

I am currently planning ways to build up the part at the back of mine. It is slow going process because even though the rubber I used has a 6 hour cure time, once pigment is added, the cure time is closer to 24 hours and sometime 48 hours! I was quite concerned with the light grey rubber mix I applied to my mid-soles being still tacky after leaving it over night. It took 2 days before it was no longer sticky.

It has not cracked though :)

A question for people who have much more knowledge about electronic and LEDs than I do, but is there any reason why the green LEDs tend to dim first? I got them all from the same place and they are all using the same resistor. My guess is that they are a higher voltage than the yellow or red (However my knowledge on this is very basic)

In a way its kinda cool, as the green go first, then the yellow and the red last......almost like a battery meter :D

EDIT: Just looked on the Bright Components Ebay page where I bought them and it says the voltage of the greens is 3.2v, compared to 2v for the Yellow/Red.

Hey guys,
I almost finish my V2 mod and I wanted to thank all of those who raised the bar and always be there to help noobs like me in this thread (airair, jedifyfe, cavx, taff83 etc...)
I thought I couldn't make it but now I can touch my dream of owning a pair of mags, thank to all of you!

I have a tiny problem with my heel cup leds.
Everything is ok when I light them up with the 9V battery but when it's wired, no lights anymore (very quick red light, less than a sec.)
I think I use the wrong resistance. My leds are 3mm 2/2,2V 20mA and I use 10 ohm resistances like the 9V system diagram.
Somebody else have leds issues?

I started repainting the sole and heel cup for a grey light look and real turquoise Mag letters. The result is pretty cool.
