Hopefully this tells a better story of what I did. Sorry for the ugly state of my shoes, but if anyone wants to tackle this mod, know that is best done before you paint. The bond between Mid-Sole and Heel Cup seems to be strong which was a concern to me last night when the heel came away from the mid-sole. I guess this is no different to the toe slim method where you cut the front of the shoe open and glue it back down.

The letters need to be replaced with larger versions now. I have a vector file for the NIKE and MAG logos and will have to test out that new CNC cutter I bought my wife. I'll probably cut them from plastic, make a mold and cast them is clear elastomer so they are made from rubber and bend to the shape as I glue them on. I may even be able to tint them aqua during the pour.
Any getting ahead of myself and so I am off to repaint my shoes
And YES that sole on the new shoe on the left is one of the new casts I have done.
Nice!
For some reason, that right shoe is reminding of Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledgers Joker face paint after its been worn off!
I'm surprised the dye has worn off.
My guess is standard acrylic or that fancy Angelus acrylic with some form of hardener will stay on the soles, especially on the sides. Underneath doesn't really mattter as much.
I did find out though that the splatter paint used from the factory is a polyurethane paint which is heat set at a high temperature.
I'm not sure where to get this type of polyurethane paint though, but that seems to be the paint to get that will stick permanently with some heat setting.
