Tinker Hatfield Confirms Power Laces Will Return In 2015 | Sole Collector

I know in my heart it will be on the Mags, it wouldn't be right of Nike to put them on anything else but the Mags in the year 2015. The question I have is will they be Nike Mag replicas or something else more in line with a modern sneaker design Nike Mag spinoff (as to not devalue the astronomically priced RD Mags from 2011).


On another note look at the height of my Mags vs. My Kobe 9 "Maestro" they are close in height and the Kobes would look cool in a Mag colorway...

That would be my logic too. Power laces are inspired by BTTF, and 2015 is the year they are "from", so whatever comes out will either be a new release of the Mags, or at the very least something inspired by the Mags (which I hope it isn't).

I have a hunch it may be another limited run though, but I'm still holding out hope that in 2015 I will be able to buy a legit pair of Nike Mags at a halfway reasonable price. One can dream!

Unfortunately, prediction on our part would be merely guesswork.
We'd need a Nike insider to be part of the forums to get definite info.

It is called styrene. It is plastic sheets that are sold at hobby shops.

Today, during an appearance at Jordan Brand’s Flight Lab in New Orleans, legendary designer Tinker Hatfield discussed the Nike MAG releasing again in its scripted year of 2015 with an authentic power lacing system. His response, quoted above, confirmed the return of the storied sneaker in its intended form. When they came out of nowhere and released in 2011, the MAGs lacked the automatic-lacing feature. Originally scripted in Back To The Future to be created in 2015, Hatfield also mentioned the self-tying 2015 recreation will be extremely limited.
