yeh MAG colourway would be cool. It worked for the Hyperdunks. Interesting shoe design, the Kobe 9's.
I've got Flight Lite's in the below colour scheme, which seems to work.... looks alright for the Kobe's too.

I think everyone's just wishing for a mass release of the MAGs. I'd be happy with even an unlighted version in 2015 as long as they looked like the RD's..... sigh

Well another off topic Nike shoe - the limited edition Lunar Endor QS snowboarding boot just recently released, i was pretty stoked to see them release another light up "shoe" ImageUploadedByTapatalk1391323495.170840.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1391323503.350122.jpg

Is there a reason why the Tamiya fine surface primer is so expensive?

its 180ml and it costs £12 a can!

I've managed to find some alternatives though which are far cheaper.

That dark grey line is imbedded in the rubber. No way to get it out.

Hi, i wanted to ask.
How many coats of grey primer did you go over on the grey soles before reapplying the turquoise splatter paint?

thanks

Not sure why it's expensive, although it is a great product.

I did about three thin layers.

To all who commented, thanks for the compliments on the pics! This was my display pair so I tried to make them "perfect," but it's so much unpleasant work I just couldn't imagine doing the job over and over even for money.

Thanks again to Brad's excellent tutorials, I couldn't have done it without them. On this pair I even added splatter as the factory paint was pretty sparse. Brad's suggestion of a single-hair brush worked perfectly. It was easier than I thought actually - was pretty nervous starting, but now I feel like if I ever had to repaint the soles completely I could re-do the splatter from scratch.

Also Taff83, wow haven't seen you on here in a while! I should have mentioned you in my earlier post as well, as your early mod pics on here were some of the first and very inspiring to us all.

Hi i'm new here.
i'm a big fan of all you guy's i love all your work and all the picture's.
Keep up the good work. i,m going to order a pair when i get paid friday and might need some help lol.

Never gets old seeing a freshly modded pair, especially when you know what it takes to get em done. A little off topic here guys but I'm sure everyone would be interested, I'm not sure if you all follow Nikes (I'm a reseller, I'm neck deep in Nikes) and I have a pretty good connect at nike. My guy said (wasn't 100%) he has heard rumors of a Kobe 9 mag colorway, if it's true, I need them! I'll post a Kobe 9 for reference. Let's keep our fingers crossed. View attachment 281094

At least it is a decent height hi-top

I know been a bit inactive over the last few months after I got married, honeymoon and was an usher/best man at two other weddings, on top of that I've been sorting out my flat to sell, time to finally get a house! First thing on the cards will be designing a prop room, will at last have a place to display my mags :)

Hey that's a good idea. I take it you soldered the wires to the tape first separately, then stuck the tape to the EL using its own adhesive? If it has a good connection, I'd put a little hot glue on that just to be sure it won't let go in the future.

Karin Chen. I contacted her live first and asked if she had good stock in the size I want and these turned up. My first pair was the same. Not sure what happened with the 2nd pair. It doesn't matter now because I sold them.

Welcome to the RPF! The best way for you to have the most solid knowledge on building this Mag project and acquire "everything from the beginning" is to first take the time to read through this entire thread. There is a wealth of fundamental information here that is key to understanding what is best for your own style of building. There is no "one perfect" way as each prop builder has their own unique style and methods for achieving similar results.

I know you might be discouraged with my recommendation on reading through the entire thread, but I read through it within a few days. (Trust me, you can get through it very quickly because it is so interesting.) It helps refine your questions so that you are not asking redundant topics that have already been covered multiple times. Everything you asked for is actually in this thread (the Aliexpress links), the diagram for the EL and LED's, the complete shopping list is even in the title of this thread, etc etc.)

Once you have a solid foundation in knowledge, any of us will be happy to assist you with the more low level advanced questions.
