Nike Mag V2 Mod Discussion (Page 58 Shopping List)

You guys do realize you can get these shoes from several diff web sites for Prop use at a FRACTION of the cost of what Nike actually sold them for right?

I think you need to go and read this thread from the start. You must be confused, slow, or something.

We are already discussing the knockoffs, not the 2011 official Nike Mags.

We already know you can buy knockoffs from various websites, we on this forum have known about them since they first came out, so i'm not sure what you are trying to explain?! The whole point of this thread is to discuss the knockoffs and modifying them.

we already know the official Air Mags cost thousands of dollars, and the knockoffs cost far less.

It seems you have just discovered about these knockoffs it seems.

We already know about the knockoffs inside out, as we already discussed the first generation of knockoffs (the non accurate ones).

As for "several diff websites". All the knockoffs are the same, they come from the same factory and they are all the same price on average, $250 to $300 and everyone already knows where to get them from.

So what exactly is the information you are trying to give us what we don't already know?!

Yeah but you guys DO realize that you can modify these replicas to make them look like the real ones right?

There should be a thread for that.

Subsequently if you guys know of a website that talks about movie prop replicas, let me know. Thanks.

resistance is futile.

the clear soles start to yellow straight away so you can't do much other than use some sort of sea glow or other yellowing remover.

as for the grey part of the soles, these do go yellow, but only if you leave them out in the light for long periods.
So far i have had 2 pairs that have gone slightly yellowing on the grey soles but nothing major as of yet.

Once the grey part of the soles go yellow you can't do anything for that, its either a respray of some sort or just live with it.

These shoes aren't designed for longevity it seems, as they seem to have used a non uv protected rubber casting material unlike a lot of modern sneakers made today. They are knockoffs so you can hardly blame them for using the cheapest possible materials to make them and churn them out!

hmm thanks for the info! maybe if i top coated the soles with a clear uv resistant rubber such as plastidip? Do you guys think that might work?

Plastidip might work but finding the right colour might be a challenge. The grey on these V2 MAGs is too dark and it needs to be lighter than the cloth upper. Might have to go and check out my local supplier?

plastidip have a brush on clear coat! that should work i hope?

HAHAHA.. 132 pages of Gluing and shoving batteries in souls. Sounds like you know it all and have it all figured out.

To answer your question, No. I didn't read all 132 pages. However what I did read it sounded like some simple mods to the existing knock offs would easily pass for screen ready prop replicas. That's why I mentioned the reps.

Now, what you may not know is your half witted attempt and trying to sound clever accomplished nothing except making you sound like a Douce.

Try being little less of a know it all punk, and simply state that yes you were aware of the reps, or ask if I had some info that maybe you didn't because god forbid someone may have something you don't.

So with that, I'll gracefully bow out of the thread, keep my info to myself and wish you luck.

I apologize to the rest of the thread. Seems your friend has all the info.

Wiring up lights?
Batteries in soles?
Gluing fabric?

Why are you making shoes?

You do know that you can buy these directly from China fully intact with lights and everything, right?
:p

I think the problem is that, because you didn't read more in this thread, it would seem that these are easy mods....They aren't. Believe me, I've done about 15 of these. The mods do make the shoes look VERY close to the real MAGs. It's just more challenging that throwing batteries and little lights and wires.

Air air is a respected member here and calling him names will get you banned quicker than him learning a lesson from you. Just sayin'

LOL So the "Respected" call people simple and belittle them? Sorry, I respect no one who speaks to or approaches me like that.

I asked ONE question.. Hell I've even got a cure for yellowing souls, but screw it.

Good luck w the builds guys.

Just got a pair for christmas and absolutely love them! does anyone know what I can do to prevent the yellowing on the soles though? I'm pretty worried about it.

I think the best way would be trying to add a topcoat of something uv resistant onto the rubber areas, I might contact plastidip to see if they can answer some of my questions

if you felt offended, well I apologise for that, but its just your post seemed to indicate the glaringly obvious if you'd bothered to read even just the first page of the thread and discovered, that this entire thread is discussing replica prop nike mag knockoffs for the last year or so!

I thought it was plainly obvious that this thread was about replica knockoffs, but obviously you didn't know or misread something, which is understood as this thread is exceedingly long!

I don't think anyone here is a know it all or above everyone, especially not me, we all learn from each other. There are countless people on here who've given advice to everyone which has proven invaluable.

As for people knowing it all and having it all figured out, well, technically yes thats correct. Thanks to many people on here, the list of things which can be changed or modified has been clearly explained in the entirety of this thread.

If you have any questions feel free to fire away, i'm sure you can get your answers very quickly and easily.

As for the modifications, yes, after they are done, you will have a very close replica with the same lighting. They are definitely not as simple as they look though, they can be tricky.

Well if your feelings were hurt, the only thing I can say is sorry!
feel free to ask any questions.

cheers

Again I haven't read all 132 pages, however due to someone's question I read in the last few pages sounds like the below recipe may not be in here. Regarding the rubber going yellow and how to get it clear again. Here's a pretty good "Soup/Sauce" as it's often referred to for turning yellowing rubber back to clear again or removing them yellowing all together.

Hydrogen Peroxide, powder Oxy Clean, and sun light. I put some hydrogen peroxide in a clear glass or plastic container. Add about 1/2 tbsp of Oxy clean. Dip your parts, pieces, souls around in the liquid, then lay them out in the sun. It's best to re-wet your piece every couple hours if possible. If the mixture has too much Oxy and foams up, it will slow the process down a bit. And having the part submerged vs re-wetting every couple hours seams to be the same. Leave in direct sunlight all day. Repeat until you are happy. There's also another in-depth thread I found a long time ago with different methods. Using Sauce - Restore My Sneakers

As for the comment "One factory Makes all the knock offs" I'm not too sure about that. I've got a buddy here in Miami that gets Mags and they are SPOT on. He wants quite a bit for them, $400+, however I just did an image search and realized he may be getting them from DHGate. Again, not sure if you guys are ordering from here, but these look spot on. Hey Guys

Want to buy my pair of mags, who is the best to buy them from in good quality?

Also does anyone sell any complete DIY kits to transform them into the exact movie replicas?

Cheers :)
