15cm may be too big. All sizes of these v2 pairs seem to have the same size area for the clear soles. I have different sizes and the same size el cutout applies to all of them. I cutout 2 soles from a single a6 sheet. You need to check your measurements again to make sure you don't make them too big. Don't forget that you need space for the el connection points also.

To be honest I'm thinking of not even using LEDs on next pair and just going with el cutouts overlaid with transparent sheet. Would save lots of battery power! Might be a good experiment to do. LEDs suck so much power.

Someone did this with the Markpoons and it doesn't look good in my opinion.

I have a suggestion to Jedyfife. I can not collect his Nike Air MAG and pampers you buy one pair of reworked for $ 1000 + I will pay the shipping to my country. You can do this for me? I am a very big fan of the BTF, but on the original Sneakers I have no money and besides, I missed the auction on eBay.

EL sheet hates me. I cut out a piece for one of my midsoles and half of it doesn't light up. I just threw it away. Good thing I ordered a new sheet of it from airair a couple days ago.

You need to make sure to use scotch tape to the part where you cut the el sheet. So you can protect your sheet this way.

You need to be really careful to not cut the wire too ;)!

But maybe it didn't work because you bent it too much or maybe because you didn't protect the sheet...

What do you mean by putting scotch tape on the part where I cut it? It's not clear what you mean. And EL sheet doesn't have wires. Do you mean the metal pins that come off?

Well what I do is that I put scotch tape around the part where I cut the EL sheet. I've been told it was protecting the sheet from breaking it. I'm not sure if you understand, I can try to find a video for you explaining this! (I'm bad at explaining things haha)

And well it depends, there are some EL pannels with a black wire/connector. Not sure how yours is. But either way, you need to be careful when you manipulate the sheets, it's kinda fragile.

I'm not telling you what to do, I'm just telling you how I do it ^^

i see, do you think its because the brightness wouldn't be as good as the leds, or just that its flat? it would definitely make things a lot easier in terms of one source for everything and longer lasting lights. i guess i could try some experimenting.

I'm with jedifyfe thick straps seem to hold out.
Look at these movie used mags .. They also look pretty thick in my opinion.

I suppose the final product needs to be suttle/slick but strong.
So thin leather (if stiff) could be a winner.

Is anyone else still blown away by clone props scratch builds?!
I'm still totally blown away!
Love how the sides stick out over the el. and the over hanging heel cup.
Such a great job.
Anyway back on to topic

I'm still blown away lol. The only problem I see with them is the tips of the shoes. The upper comes up a little and gets rounded off. It should be smooth, blending in with the midsole.

I would have to say that for me I even prefer his own tip. less "duck"-like tip.

here's my latest pair i just finished, available in the junkyard.
3v Setup powered by 2 x AAA batteries.

(it may be possible to use 2 x 1.6v AAA Nizn rechargeable batteries, i haven't got round to buying any yet to test them, but they technically should be ok, as the resistors i used are able to cope)

i think 5 wearable pairs is enough for me so put these ones up if anyone wants them.

now off to do some custom made uppers.

My final conversion...unless I add the rechargeable port:

Final NIKE MAG REPLICA Conversion - YouTube

It is a real chore to install the necessary stuff to have a working charging port. It just adds to the cluttered mess of wires. But in my opinion it's worth it. And thanks for the shout out in your video. :thumbsup

It's also a shocker hearing those stories about faulty mags. You would think that buying a pair of shoes for $6000 or more that they would be built better. The V2s are probably more durable.
