Well mine are now all done, cant feel battery, wires or the thicker led section, also the toe mod now makes the shoes alot tighter on fitment, they now feel like 11 not 12s.

I have walked in them, used the stairs, still comfy and working :)

Taff, did you put your battery in the sole or the ankle buckle? I think I remember seeing a picture of you doing that, but I'm not sure.

Could you make a thread for the box please? I was thinking about doing a thread so we could start finding companies that would be willing to do a run of them, for all the folk with mags now i think demand would be high enough for a 100 piece order.

My modified V2 box is just not good enough, was only a quick fix having the lid and box one piece.

I've had a thread on it for a while now. It has more pictures and print outs for the stickers too. Not too many people were interested in it though. Even posting it here didn't get much attention. But you could read through the entire thread no problem. It's only 2 pages. The last page only has 1 post on it though.

I got all of the information from a person on youtube who has the RDs, so all of the dimensions are correct.

On the RDs when they are low on battery only the red LEDs show. And when you hook them up and they're fully charged, only the green show. I'm not sure how they do this, but it would be cool to figure out.

That's correct, but as I said its doubtful I can pull that off hence why I am thinking about using a LED so the buckle would glow green when it was charging.

What 9v batteries have you guys ordered and what Mah are they? I got these 175mah and they didnt last very long in my Mark Poons

Page 58 it's linked.. 9v rechargeable 750mah.

Did you read my post about my MAG box thread Taff?

Just seen your link above my bad! Will check it out ASAP.

Taff, did you put your battery in the sole or the ankle buckle? I think I remember seeing a picture of you doing that, but I'm not sure.

The 3v pair runs from the buckle, 9v has to be in the sole due to the weight and size of the batteries.

For the sake of my own sanity and "simplicity", I decided to house the 9 volt battery, inverter and on/off switch in the tounge. Still looks great!

Nike Mag V2 with working EL Strap - YouTube

So far I haven't seen anyone else here do it this way, and the tounge is the perfect sized pouch to fit everything! It's so much easier when you're not fighting with the sole for battery and wire access. Also, installing the Judco button in there is such a breeze compared to the collar tips, and it stays in place! LEDs and Sole Panel next!

They look good. Are they wearable? Where do the wires enter the strap?

Yes it's wearable and hardly noticable since the tounge is so plush. The wires come out of the tounge very low, so they're not visible, and into a slit I made near the white silk square containing the Nike Swoosh. It feeds through the lining of the shoe and out the square opening in the back. From there, I connect the wire to the postive and negative leads coming from the EL Strap.

I'm going to continue the use of this method to complete the sole EL Panel and LED board. Everything is more accessible and less complicated this way. When all is wired, I will use a needle and thread to sow up the slit in the tounge. The battery will be recharged via a wire coming out the same hole in the back of the shoe. The old on/off button and USB charge port will ultimately be removed and wires hidden.

hi, was wondering if any of you have a picture of how you are placing the EL cutout in the soles and where/how you are placing the wire back through into the battery area.

Are you making a new hole, or folding over the wires behind the El cutout and through the existing circular holes?

thanks

hi
whereabouts did you make the slit for the El cutout wires to go through?
thanks

Here is what i did......took a mag rd image and trace it off the ipad, adjusted it to fit into the chinese shape sole, drew it into illustrator, cut a vinyl template with a 1mm outline, applied the decal to the el sheet and then i cut round the whole thing with a knife whilst trimming off the excess i didnt want on the bottom edge, you will see the template and the decal underneath, probably not super duper accurate but good enough for me
The el connection is actually bent into the heel so that it cant be seen, its solidly in place by making a slit through the shoe and running the wire up the sole

Wierd how the ipad comes as a tron blue and the iphone photographs as aqua

just to let anyone know.
i had bought 1 A5 cuttable aqua el sheet from elwirecraft a few days back as i wanted to test my circuit, but its not what was expected.

i don't know why its been done like this, but there are 4 connections right on the edges of each side, and you cannot reuse any left over pieces of the EL sheet, because they've layered over all the edges with a plastic film, rendering it completely useless other than those 4 corners.

Airair do you have anymore of the 3v tiny inverters left? Need another two...

hi you're in luck!
i got last 2 spare left

if you need them, just let me know.

PS, i decided to get the EL sheets in aqua but in A6 now.
I measured the A5 sheets, and because of the way the pins are located, you can only get 1 EL Sole cutout with pins. I got confused the last time.

you can reuse the A5 sheets other non pin connections, but they would have to be wire glued.
For the El sole cutouts though, its best to have them with the pins already soldered for extra strength.
The El for strap can be wire glued, as they will take less stress.

So I hopefully should have some A6 El sheets in aqua soon. I needed quite a few for the multiple conversions im doing at the same time.
Just realised i need some more switches too, but they take ages to come from hong kong.

The el wire goes to the right side of the right circle..... I was able to end the curve on the edge of the a5 el sheet and effectivly bend the terminal to 90 degrees. I made a slit in the sole so the el angle simply slips into that and the wire comes up through the sole. Its very safe, doesnt move or stress the el connection or wiring.

I then used small dabs of the flex loctite glue to keep the el in position, then simply folded the clear sole back up and glued that the same way.

The only downside on one shoe was that i yellowed the rubber under too much heat so i had to mix some blue rit up very washed out and brush it accross to bring some life back into it.

The only other thing i would do differently would be to not use a white vinyl outline but go with a grey to match the sole rubber, this way i feel altho not accurate to the rd they will allow a bit more impact to give the el the impression its in 2 pieces yet still being as one

Anyway i have now finished them, took some better pics so enjoy my modded shoes

Toe mod, sole el mod, new leds, totally rewired to 9v in the sole with the 9v micro invertors, added the el strap, judcos fitted into the cuffs, it all works togeather off one switch, rit dye on the sole to take out the yellow tinge on the sole, all wiring runs inside the shoe fabrics with exception to the el collar which goes into the original power switch hole. The edging on the shoe was done with shoe goo in a fine needle bottle to give a finished seam.

Enjoy
