Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

There's some replicas on aliexpress that have the nike leds fitted.

Maybe it's the second batch?

It looks like they're just comparing the replicas without the EL strap to the real ones, that do have the EL strap. It doesn't say or show anywhere that they are selling replicas with a light-up strap.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

"The bird" HAHAHAHAHA

Taff, your pics with the EL are inspirational. I've been thinking for about the past month that I'd just make an EL strap if they don't do it at the factory, but now I'm most definitely gonna mod mine to full EL whenever I order a pair.

Still patiently waiting on news about the next batch though...

Thanks, I am glad I have let you and others see how far we can take these, with jedifyfe's infamous toe fix these are going to look even sweeter, finger loop mod might even be on the cards as well but I think you will probably see that last on everyone's mod list.

Hey Taff I went ahead and took your advice for the plug and again I was blown away by how small this thing is.

Excellent Nik! Hope you enjoy them!! I ordered same day I posted however my ones have not yet arrived :( not long though!! :) don't forget to get a adjustable power supply for it so you can run a accurate 3v, need a link? Just pm me mate.

Sorry to rain on your parade, that skinny image on the left is of the RD MAG. The image on the right is the V2 MAG.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

One toe slimmed. I don't know if I will be taking orders on this as it is a BYATCH to do...

The second shoe only took me about 30 minutes... Getting the hang of it. Still not easy to do...

Slimmed compared to NOT slimmed:

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

So is it still stretchy material or is the grey just a cover for another fabric underneath? Looks pretty thick in the front view photo

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Thanks for sharing your mag toe slim process photos!!

Again amazing job! I'm going to grab my nuts and give this a try, did you use gorilla glue to stick it back down and also was it basically the same process as your MP Mag toe slimming tutorial on YouTube?

Any advise is really appreciated :)

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

I used Loctite liquid again. Super strong bond. Post pics!!!

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Oh loctite again, right going to asda/Walmart tomorrow to get more its on sale there :D

Did you cut away the excess fabric? And did you do exactly the same tactics as your toe slimming guide tutorial? This will be my first time doing this on a fabric shoe(the kmags I practiced on are leathery) any tips are really grateful at this stage :)

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Yes. I pulled back the toe fabric from one side of the laces all the way to the other side laces. Then I cut off all the excess fabric then reglued then back down. It's a bit tricky so take your time and plan ahead. The Loctite glue dries virtually instantly.

As for a tutorial....maybe in a few weeks. Too busy.

Ah sounds like same process as your MP Mag toe slimming tutorial video, no need to post another one as you have already done one :)

Thanks for sharing this in the thread, I'm sure many people including myself will put your info to good use :)

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

I swapped out the LED's today but I found that the electronics and battery are not good enough, so I doing it the old fashion way for now (using a 9v battery), until I can figure out a better way.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Not a whole lot of difference with them turned on (at least as far as the picture shows) but looks loads better when turned off, like the real ones.

It's funny how the blue LEDs at the bottom screw with all cameras so much. There's that weird halo effect in every picture, no matter who takes it.

In pictures, not so much. Other than they are truly green, yellow and red colors (look at the LEDs reflection on my desk). In person they look so much better. Also, I figured to run both the LEDs and the EL sheets, I needed a better power source. The 3v is just not cutting it. I believe the originals are at least 5v.

If someone with electronics experience could set up a diagram with a higher voltage source that can be charged then that would be great. Otherwise I am stuck with the old 9v swap out battery. And that is not all bad, seeing that I would like to be able to take these to a Con and swap out battery's and have these last for more than a few hours.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

I'm going to have to disagree, the new LEDs are much cleaner, much sharper and brighter. Once you had the shoe apart how hard we're they to get to? And did you have to change anything else, or just straight up swap of the LEDs?
