Yea cavx I believe they are the RD mags .... I plan on doing a pair of the V2's hopefully Dec. when work slows and I'm off for the whole month. I'm gonna use all the tutorials from the forum. Then once I got it down plan to do a custom v2 pair like Jedifyfe

And hence my comment in the last post. If this is the 4th 'custom', then there are only 1506 original pairs left. If these 'customes' keep turning up, guys like Jedifyfe are going to get a positive return on their investment.

Just got sent a link to this (Aussie product?) that might be the perfect path to making clear outrigger soles.

PLASTIMAKE

I have made contact with a few questions about using it for molding purposes. It will be interesting to see what they come back with.

Interesting. You'll just have to ask if their product will oxidize/yellow after time, or you will have to test it yourself. Hopefully it doesn't yellow. Please keep us updated.

It is translucent whilst it is soft and goes white when it sets hard. So this is not to make the actual clear soles, rather the masters to be cast in clear rubber. Apparently I can also take impressions and I want to use it to capture the waffle for the sides as well as the pyramids on the base. If all goes to plan, I will take a larger impression off the bottom of my unworn pair and trim it to the shape of the side part but slightly bigger to allow for the tilt of the ourtigger sole. I already have the pyramid pattern for the base. The challenge I had last time was that I got a negative of the pyramid pattern on my clear soles that I made (I also didn't have a vacuum chamber back then, so got lots of bubbles). By using this stuff, I will be able to take a negative and cast a positive. The soles will probably still have to be 4 parts in total, but should be closer to the RD soles.

Who knows, whilst my soles are off, I might even redo the lights and wiring :)

Has anyone experienced sole splitting on their V2 MAGs? This morning I noticed a spilt in the grey rubber right behind the front clear insert. It has split along the seam and is wide enough to see both the honeycomb of the midsole and the pink card of the innersole. Shoe Goo here we go again

nope, no cracking here yet, but the midsole may be a product like those old 90's Nikes and Reeboks that fall apart after time - and if it's a 'cheap copy' of that product - gulp!
On the other hand, there was another type of midsole in the 90s which was a little harder but lasts longer than the rubber on the outsoles! I've got a pair of old trashed Reebok Pump SXT's that this has happened with.... had to glue new rubber onto the midsole.
Good luck with casting your new outsoles, too!

I have all the EL and LED's in my FOOTWEAR MAGs. I tinted the soles via Photoshop to get an idea of how they will look, The EL in the soles is white. I will send these out to have the sole tint done along with the yellow swoosh painted and FOOTWEAR text painted on...

Very nice!

how is the text going to be painted on? is there some sort of stencil process/airbrush required?
will be amazing when done.

Yes, I believe that Robert aka SETFREE will have a vinyl stencil made then airbrush a few coats of his special fabric paint on.

WOW! That yellow on black is striking. I like. FOOTWEAR wording kind of states the obvious givin' its a shoe :) Very well executed, so well done.

I hope you know why I chose that color and text...

Yes, of course. I have one :)

On Sunday I began making forms for new bucks with tapered ends, recessed handles and lids that will wrap around the body. I wanted the handles to be a part of the lids, but for Vac Forming, I may need to make the handles as a separate part and join it later.

So I have read through some pages of this thread as I'm about to order a pair of Mags, is Karen Chen still the preferred vendor for these shoes? as I see references to another seller as well.

Thanks,

Dan.

3v system has been holding up really well!

Since I am happy with the 3v system now. Here is a quick run down of the parts if anyone is interested in doing it.

These parts are in addition to the A4 size AQUA EL panel and the ankle bubble 3mm LEDs (same as the 9v in this aspect)

Tenergy 3.7V Ultra Micro Pole Cat Mosquito Mk VI Charger
x2 1.3MM DC CO-AX POWER PLUG
x2 1.3MM DC JACKS
x2 1200mah Lithium Ion (With a protection circuit/PCB which protects from over charging and over discharging)
x2 3v thin Inverters - Coolight

Everything but the 3v thin inverters can be bought on Ebay for pretty cheap. The thin 3v inverters I could only find at that coolight website.

You do everything the same as the 9v basically as in wiring the strap and the EL sole and ankle bubble.
But then what I did was dremel out the ankle bubble to fit the battery and port. Then drill a hole just large enough for the port and hot glue it in. The main wiring difference is you tag the port onto the + and - of the leads coming off the battery. Then wire the battery to the switch and everything else as you would the 9v. The main wiring difference is just adding the port really.

Both the 9v and 3v system have their pros and cons. The main reason I did it this way is I liked the idea of plugging the shoes directly into the wall.

I like how you have drilled the ankle buckle for the charge port. Very good attention to detail.

Fantastic.

Could you post up a picture of the led soldered board.
Thanks
