Nike Mag V2 Mod Discussion (Page 58 Shopping List)

Interesting. I have yet to have any issues with my straps.

Yeah, it's most likely my weak Radio Shack wire glue, or my glueing technique. I will work out the kinks though. Nike Mags were first made by Tinker Hatfield and "Tinker" is what I shall do.

Got my 1:15th scale Delorean, T-shirt, and Hoverboarding poster in the mail today from BTTF.net! I'm going to watch your Delorean Mod video again now.

When I watched Jedi's tutorial on slimming the toe, he says to measure down 1/4 inch for the initial point of cutting. I don't think he himself actually measured that low, for his toes seem to be a little less slim than mine when I did it. Mine are very similar to w0rd3r's. Actually measuring down 1/4 inch possible gives you the slimmest toe without ruining it. It's very close though because I had to use a hair dryer to get the midsole to flex to glue to the toe.

I keep having to take apart my straps because the EL in the strap blinks due to a loose connection. Could it be my wire glue? I'm using Radio Shacks...ah man it's frustrating...

Sounds like the copper tape is touching each other causing it to "short out", i once had this problem all i did to fix was take a hairdryer to the leatherette peel back and check the wires, unless they are touching at the exit area of the copper tape where you solder the +/- wires are, if thats the case just put a tiny bit of hot glue on them and they won't make contact with each other.

Failing all of the above, i have no idea :?

Hi guys and thank you all for your great feedbacks, I really appreciate.
As MitasTouch said, I leave about 6mm of fabric after the glue line, I add here pics to show you the process.
You also have a side by side comparison between a moon boot MAG and a slimmed toe MAG.

About the final glue line, I will try to buy something this afternoon and I will let you know how it goes. Anyway, even with the actual finish it is okay for me, but I saw some very good finish on this topic, so I try to do the same.

Spyhunter2k, thanks dude, but you know when you do it yourself, you can see so much imperfections that I know some guys here managed to do a slim toe just as I did with a much better finition.
The pictures I took are the best ones, on some other pics you can see that it's not perfect, but anyway, thank you again !

At the other end of the shoe is the ankle buckle and have a look how inaccurate the V2 one is. The ankle buckle on the rear shoe is the 3D print from cloneprops, created by 3D modeling the RD MAG. Even my vac pulled buckles are better than the factory unit.

Here we go !
4 toe slim done, it is long and hard, but totally worth it in my opinion.
I still have to do a "finish glue line" though.

Thanks cavx !
I really want to mod the strap now, but I don't need it to light up.
Is this possible to do a NIKE logo and put it in the strap, but without an EL panel ? Will it still look good?
Here's what I want to do.

Without the EL Panel? Thats blasphemy I say!!! You can do whatever you want ;-) If you want to save yourselft the headache of any heavy modding, then I suggest you just carefully paint the current logo white.

Here is the pic of my 2 straps.
I put a slice of transparent plastic to give a shiny look, just as Bobby Brown did.
My printer is out of ink, so I will print the logos tomorrow.

I don't know Man, I've been following the topics around BTTF here for the past 2 months, but maybe the RPF is starting to be well known and people who are looking for MAGs end up here.
Do you guys think this will be good for the finish glue line on the toe?

Here are the newest pair I'm currently working on. I wanted to have an extreme flat-toe look. I'm happy with the results.

Did anyone make theirs rechargeable? If so, how'd you do it?

Its pretty straight forward process. Instead of using just a plain 9 volt battery. You can use a rechargable 9 volt in its place. You will need to have a direct positive and negative connection to the rechargable 9 volt that exits out the back of the shoe, behind the white buckle. These rechargable batteries usually come with a charging station so you can use the exiting wire to connect to the charging station. The exiting wire can be connected to the charge station either by DC jack or any male/female wires that can connect to each other.
