I could be onto a winner here
A few pages back I was talking about experimenting with a vinyl mesh that I could source. This stuff is strong and comes in a variety of shades of grey (from white to black) and I said I would have to do a stitch test to see how this stuff goes.
So tonight after cutting myself out a set of uppers, I began to stitch one together.
Well test results are in and the are as follows:
PROS:
1. Can be cut and does NOT fray

2. Tough and does not rip

I pulled the fabric hard tonight expecting the seam to rip and no such thing happened

3. Can be stitched with ease

4. Comes in a variety of colours including a light to medium grey
5. Mesh and it seems to breath or at least not hold the heat like traditional vinyls and PVCs

6. As it is Vinyl, it is not affected by water and easily cleaned

7. Light as well well as strong
CONS:
1. Does not stretch, so might be difficult to do a double layered part :unsure Having said that, I was able to reverse my seam with no problem.
So next will be an abrasion resistance test. I'll give a piece to my kid and tell him to go hard with it and see how it holds up. If by the end of the day is still OK, I'll pass it

. From my previous experiences with this stuff, I'd say it will pass with no issues. It is also supposed to be flame retardant, but I want to see that before believing that claim.
