NIKE MAG Knockoffs

Still putting the Tube Bag on hold?

I've got the MDF for the buck. I will cutting the profile just after the new year on a massive table router. Then I will see if I can Vac Form this myself or outsource the work.

The guys where I get my laser cutting done have a Vac Form and pretty cost effective with their service. If I have 20 pulls, I am sure I can get a good price for each.

Well I'll definitely be in if you are doing a run! Love them...

Oh yes, I completely understand! I think we just want you to know that there will definitely be a demand for them! They perfectly compliment the Mags. And as I saw someone say in another thread, they are actually probably better than the movie prop itself!

There is a demand for everything if the price is right. Hmm, maybe someone should let NIKE know about their MAGs :$

I still need to buy this grey mesh and start my MAG build #2 as I think I finally have all the kinks worked out of the patterns (which I am happy to provide for free). The challenge of course is people's ability to sew them together and unless I was to buy an industrial sewing machine (or hire the services of someone that has one), no way I am going to hand stitch for others.

Being vinyl, maybe the seams could be welded, who knows. I need to do a quick YouTube video showing just how strong this stuff is. The ONLY way I have been able to rip it is to cut a slice first, then pull hard from both sides and it will rip down the line from that slice. No way will this stuff rip just as a sheet and there is no way the thread I use will break either. That is another point. I can not break this thread with my hands and I have heaps of stress cuts where I have pulled it tight and it just cuts into me rather than break. It is not cheap, but well worth it as it is one thing I know won't fail.

It was asked how much I've spent so far, and the truth is, probably about $600 all said and done. $300 of that was for the clear soles and the rest was canvas and then spandex. All this white mesh work has only cost time because the mesh itself comes from offcuts from acoustically transparent projection screens and I used to keep the off cuts for when someone wanted a sample.

Should pick up my grey mesh tomorrow, grey #20 thread and white #20 thread. Question is, do I use more white mesh for the collar and cuff or buy vinyl?

WOW! They do look good. More pics please whilst I wait for mine to arrive. What is the wall thickness? What is the detail on the inside?

Unless Taff83 says otherwise, I don't think that photo was taken with a flash.

What paint is the best to paint the mid soles of the MP MAGs?

Whilst ideally you want a flexible paint, any pressure pack can should work, though over time (like most sneakers that are painted) will crack. The stuff I used was a proper car interior paint, but too dark to be accurate. I'll continue to use it because it is all I can get. The other grey offered in the range is charcoal. Otherwise it might be a case of mixing the paint. Seeing as I don't have anyway to re-spray the paint after that, I won't be doing that.

Maybe a white mist coat over the grey might work to lighten it. Not sure.

I've found fabric paint works a treat

I didn't even really give this much thought. Does it come in a pressure pack? I bet it comes in a heap more colours too :)

I did yet another tweak to my mesh MAG patterns because I want these to be perfect before cutting up the grey mesh I bought the other day.

You can read all about it HERE.

Sorry for the delay with this info, below are the inside measurements for a "medium" ankle buckle:-

68mm - inside width
75mm - inside height
30mm - strap slits height
1mm - thick plastic
3mm -space roughly on the inside of the buckle to put electrics Ect (which I plan to do)

These definately have to be painted just so you know.

Yes that pic was taken in natural sunlight, unfortunately at the moment in Scotland we don't get much sunlight and thats honestly the best pics I can provide sorry, if you require more pics though please feel free to request.

30mm - strap slits height

Ha, I was right. I've always said that because the screen used shoe was an US8.5~9 with a 25mm (1 inch) strap, that larger size shoes like 10 and 11 should have wider straps.

When I did my scaling, it seemed that I would need a strap over 28mm wide. 30mm slots are perfect for this.

Thanks !!!! Im happy to finally offer to all the users the most accurate anckle buckle at the date. This is just the beginning,im preparing MORE things!!!!

It's a 3v inverter but I plan on getting a smaller one at the start of january when they are in stock. The one pictured will work n all but I want something even smaller :)

There is a switch on that inverter board as you can see but I really want to find a way to use the v2 switch for the strap aswell so all lights go on at same time.

If my v2's arrive(finally in the U.K now) I will make a mod thread and explain all there.
