NIKE MAG Knockoffs

i just pick up some knockoffs also and im working on a kit to revise them to look like the originals with a little Hollywood flair. heres some pics to let you see my progress..

I wasn't talking about money, I was talking about effort. You can find a decent (not accurate, but at least Markpoon level) fabric at Jo-Anne's and get 1/4 yard of it for well under $5 and completely remake the uppers for under $15 total including foam. The electronics may be pricey, but the fabrics aren't. This is one of those accuracy vs. time vs. money situations. You can have these cheap and accurate, it just takes time. From what I've heard about the electronics, I'll be able to make my shoes as accurate as I want them with lights and clear soles for under $300, so long as I don't make any mistakes. A third of that is the price of the K-Mags and a third is the price of the clear urethane. While that is debatably pricey for a pair of shoes, it's way less than the price of the real thing.

Luke, actually the nice thing about these is that there's no reason to save the sole pieces. I plan to use mine as a template, but make a new master from scratch, so it won't matter how many pieces they get torn into in the removal process, so long as I can lay them out flat and trace around them.

You sound like you have some real flare for this project and I really appreciate that. I look forward to your progress. It looks like clear soles are coming very soon for us all, whether that's from cloneprops, yourself, or the replica Mags v2 which I have been reliably told are coming, it will be a reality soon which is great. :thumbsup

People keep saying they are 'told that they are coming'...but which link can you send us to the website that is "potentially" making the V2s of these K-Mags. I'm very interested to see as I already have a pair of the V1s from SBShoe.com.

Any info....at all?

All of the sites that have been linked before are resellers not manufacturers, so none of those sites will be producing any shoes.

A number of us have been in contact with the original designer and have gotten information from some of the resellers supposedly from the manufacturer.

I'm still taking everything with a grain of salt, but I would love to see this happen.

I certainly can. I was the guy who found the original creator on YouTube and have passed on people's suggestions and he confirmed that he already has a prototype with 'icey soles' and more accurate bits, but will only be produced when v1 sells out. It was inevitable really.

You are correct. HOWEVER, what you will find is that the fabric that you find out there is not durable as footwear fabric. The stuff that NIKE uses is custom made specifically to hold up to wear. That is the BEST thing about Marpoons fabric, though it is a bit shiny.

Believe me, the accuract vs. time vs. money is pretty accurate. BUT it is also skill. You will find that you simply can't just make a pattern, sew it and expect it to slip over the foam form and glue perfectly onto the soles.

Also, when you remove the entire upper and "reglue" other fabric into place, you will have to find the perfect industrial "shoe glue" to do this. The type they use is a heat induced glue that is SUPER strong and dries with high heat. You simply can't use Gorilla Glue and expect it to last.

Awesome! very excited for it.

I'll be using Barge rubber cement. It holds up very well. I made my Jack Sparrow and Mal Reynolds boots with it and nether of those has budged. I am used to making shoes/boots with leather and am more familiar with that process, but because the foam forms similarly to the way leather does, I expect this process to be somewhat similar, if a little bit more difficult.

/\ cool Daniel, I hope it does. I have never worked with leather but forming the foam was a fun skill to learn.

The toe of my K-Mags were glued in better than any other part. It was only because I had already pulled away the rest of the uppers that I was able to pull the toe at an oblique enough angle as not to rip out chunks of foam with it.

Well that is nice to know. I was worried that they might have skimped on glue on these shoes and after 6 months they'd fall apart.
Brad, in his video mentioned trimming away excess fabric under the toe, you'll need to do A LOT of that for the K-Mags. There is a huge amount of extra fabric under there.

Yeah I was thinking at least 1/2" needs to come off and maybe up to 3/4".
The only other real difference is that instead of the uppers being glued to the "wall" of the soles, the uppers are sewn to a bottom piece of fabric

And this is where I stopped with wanting to do any mods of my own without a back up pair. From what I can tell, the construction seems to be the same as what NIKE does for their "AIR" sole shoes. A standard NIKE shoes has the same pink wood/paper thing under the sock liner the Mark Poon shoes have, but true "AIR" shoes have this cloth stitched in. I've got a pair of Jordan VIII retros that are literally falling apart and I might be best performing surgery on them to see how they tick.

I got two emails from kwaibay last night 5 hours apart. The first one was telling me they were out of stock of the Mags, and the second one said they just received more and would be shipping them soon. So I guess I'll just have to wait and see. Getting my hands on a pair of these is proving to be nearly impossible.

Same here, I should have gotten them when they were knock off price. I mean dont get me wrong. I wear expensive shoes... because they are worth it. :lol But its just I know Ill be getting vinyl/canvas/foam in shoe form for the now $120 price. Would you guys hold out a little longer to wait for a clear sole or just buy the less accurate ones now?

*mini update: buyluxuryclothing.com shoes are all out of stock, dont fall for the $60 price tag before consulting an agent, they will be out of stock until next month because thats the quote the manufacturer gave them. Potential good news?

Not sure if you saw what I posted earlier in here DO NOT BUY FROM "buyluxuryclothing.com"..... I stated before I had to dispute a claim with my bank to get my money back after I never received emails from them. Somebody also stated the same prob. but they did get their money back...I would just stay away from 'em.....

P.S. I would def. stand-by for the new V2 K-Mags if you can stand to wait however long it'll take. I know I'm gonna be waiting for a new set.

I had the same problems with buyluxuryclothing.com a few days ago, I'm still waiting for the refund they promised but now they don't even answer my mails... I read McFly88's warning too late :angry

According to Kwaibay, my shoes have shipped. I have a tracking number that should activate in the next couple days. So it's looking positive, if you want some k-mags for $90 shipped through paypal, Kwaibay is the way to go. I'll post again if anything goes wrong.

They still haven't issued your refund!?!? Sorry to hear it, like I said before if you don't get it back in a few days, I'd file a dispute claim....Hopefully the rest of the people reading this thread will heed the warnings we are giving.:thumbsup

Thank you McFly88, I sent them another mail yesterday and finally I got an answer:
"We have for you a refund, please rest assured believe will soon reach your account"

I hope to have my money back soon, then I'll probably buy a silver K-Mag pair from Kwaibay.
