New Tomenosuke Blaster Pro "Retail" version

IF you check out my auction I talk about the fact the knob is NO WHERE to be seen within the movie.

And my side covers were made with the help of a original stunt casting.

If I could I would sell at a lower price.

Rich

I say what I see.I have very good pics of the originalblaster from Karl Tate...and they are showing every detail of the hero prop.

To be accurate, Rich was also there with Karl examining the gun. And that knob is universally known to have been added after filming, it is discussed previously in this very thread.

So I think the stuntcovers are not so sharp like the herocovers, right?
About the knob:I´ve only seen the pics of the heroprop. But can you see something on the bluray versions?
About the price:Yes...that would be really great.I´m not a metalworker..what is so expensive to make a blaster like yours? Is it the material or the metalwork? Please help me to understand the problems with the build and the high price.

To any other than Racprops, as he is biased in this question.
What is it that makes a Procprops Blaster better than a Tomenosuke?
I only have a Tomenosuke assembly kit, and therefore cannot make any comparisons, other than with pics online. Does any you have, or have had both products in hand and could share the differences?

If the choice is to buy a mass produced import version for $2000 or buy a hand assembled in the U.S.A version for $1700 I'll buy the hand assembled one. What's the point of doing a mass production run if you're going to charge that much?

From the start the Tomenosuke Blaster kits are a lot cheaper.I think 500$.So don´t write bull**** like this here!
When they are sold out,the prices on ebay are going higher. But that is normal with all props on the market. So I would never buy a Tomenosuke Blaster from ebay NOW.I would wait, when they are making a new run for 500$.

You must see the prices from the start:

Tomenosuke Blaster kit: 500$
Coyle blaster: 1700$

That is the truth.1200$ are 1200$...and that is why I asked Mr.Coyle what he must all do with his blasters that they are 1200$ more expensive.I´m not a metal worker,so I asked him to explain that.

We just had that conversation in this recent thread:

http://www.therpf.com/f9/what-best-blade-runner-blaster-out-there-193100/

And it is impossible to discuss this prop without Rich sharing his thoughts as he is the only person on Earth who has researched the subject for so long, had access to both stunt and hero versions of the actual prop, and has been fabricating replicas for years. Considering the Japanese fellows borrowed one of Richards guns to make this replica speak volumes.

Make no mistake, I value Rich's opinion.
But in any case where two products are compared, the producers will naturally choose their own, and praise the best features.
That's why asked for an answer by any other than Rich, this should have included Tomenosuke as well. But they haven't so far, been a part of this discussion.

The kit. the unfinished KIT was $500! None of their completed blaster runs were NEAR that cheap. Richards is a completed/finished product so comparing it to the kit is ridiculous. His are based off original gun parts or original stun prop parts. Tomenosuke are largely based off Richards parts. Yes, some of the edges are cleaner. Almost TOO clean, in fact. Tomenosuke = Japan/mass produced. Coyle = One at a time, hand crafted, fan made, part of the community.

Just to add to clear the confusion. The Tomenosuke finished versions were $1200. My previous comment on a finished Tomenosuke possibly being $2000 was for the "masterpiece" edition where they have the clean blueing and being extremely limited

The kits were $550 (+ $50 shipped) as mentioned earlier

As for this new Tomenosuke model, I'm very curious to see the finished piece! When it's released, I would love to see side-by-side comparisons with the previously-released Pro and the Kit.

A comparison with the assembly kit and the retail edition might be a little uneven. Although most of the parts if not all will be identical, the look of an assembled assembly kit is very much up to the taste and skills of the individual builder. Whereas a comparison with Tomenosuke's other preassembled blasters might be more even.

Just to point out to those who may not know, Nobutaka Toku, Tomenosuke's gunsmith, had a chance to examine the real prop for a couple of hours when it was auctioned at Profiles in History. Here's Nobu-san testing the balance of the prop

And Nobu-san has been refining this design for years, since at least 2007 I think.

Karl

I would like both. can't afford ether one. so in my tradition and that of the RPF. one of these days I will craft my fandom on my own....

Say has this been edited?

I can fully understand cutting out the off topic part of this thread, BUT I also feel it should have been split off into its own thread.

Ah,that is interesting...thanks for posting this.So the japanese had the real prop in hands, too!

Yes they did and did some in death photo work, farther that Karl and I did as they were bold enough to open the cylinder.

After all they were looking at it at a auction and thus up for sale.

WE (Karl and I) were handling someones personal collectable.

So we had hands on in 2006. I started work on the UPGRADED model that year.

The auction was in 2009, (I think) and they had their early model with my cocking lever with them.

These auction photos caused me to do my 2010 version, an another upgrade and improved model.

All of this is covered in my auction and articles.

Rich

IF I was you I would watch for someone selling a unbuilt Tomenosuke kit.

You may want to also watch propsummit for these as well as eBay.

Best of luck.
