New to RPF - Catwoman costume project

Has anyone ever had anything custom made through cosplaymagic.com? I found them on the web and they told me to send them some reference pictures and they would give me a quote for commissions.

They commissioned me at $330.00. I looked at their other work and it looks really good. So far i'm leaning towards having these people make the costume...still need the goggles.

I think that a very dark purple would look best. To me, the suit in the picture from the game looks like some heavy spandex that is a bit sparkly.

But I think more important is:
- Get something made of fabric instead of vinyl or latex, or you will sweat a lot.
- Match the colour of the bodysuit with the colour of the cowl.

I agree. Finding the right color will be easier with traditional stretch fabric will be easier than with other options, and yes, it will be more comfortable in the long run.
Try and find someone who will send you fabric swatches BEFORE you commision anything. The last thing you want is to pay hundreds of dollars for a custom work, recieve it and only then realize the fabric and color is not to your liking (odds are, the costume won't be able to be returned or exchanged).
Keep up the good work with your researching - don't dive right in and start spending money. Had I done that without first researching my Indy gear, I would have ended up with low-end items that were not screen accurate (and you know how I am about that) and of overall inferior quality.

I think it does need to be said though that if you go with a stretch fabric it won't leave anything to the imagination or allow for any kind of "costume magic". If you go with a non-stretch or even slightly stretchy material tailored to fit perfectly you'll be much more comfortable walking around in it.

And btw, the reason I recommend the faux suede is because to me it appears that the purple fabric has a kind of "furry" quality to it. It's looks exactly like a short fiber faux suede or ultrasuede to me.

Since the rendering exists in the video game world, finding a real-world option to the look of the fabric would be the challenge, however if the design itself is the only real important element, then any number of fabric choices could be made.

i am. i can make and cast it out of resin then vaccumform the lens, dye them to the color of your choice and add a adjustable strap to the goggles........i was planning on making a set for my wife to be anyways.

i'll keep you updated on them

that would be awesome! Send me pics when you are done making your future wifes goggles and I will tell you if I like them and ask for a price for you to make me a pair.

Purple is the way to go. Catwoman is purple, Bats is black -- complementary in style but different in execution.

As far as the boots go, Demonia makes a wide variety of boots and I can vouch for both the quality and the need for practice (as a guy, I am not used to wearing lifts and almost killed myself several times at NY Comic Con!) but the price is prohibitive if you need to adjust them. Might be worth sending them an email and the game pic and seeing if they have something for you before investigating a good price.
