New Spidey Suit for The Amazing Spiderman 2

Okay, so now that Ive started thinking, i don't think that the Romita eyes would fit Andrew Garfield (as much as i love the Romita style eyes). Garfield just doesn't have the physique of the Romita Spider Man, so it may look strange.
But, with that said, check these out that i found....

i like that style eyes as well! But like i said, Garfield's look is so different than all other Spideys, the only other style i could see fitting him apart from the style they used would be the Ultimate Spider Man style.... I wonder If there is a picture someone made of Garfield's suit with the Ultimate style lenses? I feel like there was....

Romita Jr did the EXACT same kind of eyes as his father before him. and Mcfarlane was 90's not 80's. Romita Jr. was 80's.

Um -- No and No

In 1988, McFarlane joined writer David Michelinie on Marvel's The Amazing Spider-Man beginning with issue 298.

The Romita boys have two very distinct styles - IMO Jr ain't got nothing on his old man - but I'm bias because that was the Spidey I grew up on. His (Romita Sr's) Spider-Man was on EVERYTHING a young boy in the 70's would want - stickers, lightswitch covers, beach towels --

I like JR JR, but I agree, he has nothing on his father. John Romita, for me, will always be the guy who drew the definitive Spider-Man. Some people feel the same way about Neal Adams and Bats, but that's another discussion.

And yes, very different eyes. It's kind of the one thing Spidey artists are allowed to experiment with and give their own twist to. I'm personally a fan of eyes that realistically fit their purpose. I never cared for McFarlane's, always bugged me that 2/3 of Spidey's face under his pencils were eyes.

Come to think of it, that's probably why I like Rivera's design so much...

I think the ASM eyes did a good job of capturing that. They were stylized, but they were functional and not overboard and goofy a la McFarlane/USM. If they do tweak the lenses for the sequel I hope it's not to that extreme.

I used to like JR JR when he and Bob Layton did Iron-Man. Then his style changed and I haven't liked it since.

I'm bias for the same reasons as Jet Beetle. I still have and use my Spider-Man trash can I had as a kid. :lol

The only problem I have with the Rivera eyes are that the top of them are lined up with the webbing on the mask. Gives a weird look. Almost like the upper part if his face is sticking out over the rest. Odd.

I agree for the most part, but unfortunately, i grew up with the Mcarflane (which in my opinion was nothing compared to Romita sr. and jr. In the Spider Man book i have, it SPECIFICALLY states that Mcfarlane started his work on Spider Man during the 90's with the comic book "Spider Man". Now, rather or not he helped with the art in the Amazing Spider Man comics, thats new to me. but, this is john Romita Jr.'s work also
all of these are Jr.'s work, but look exactly like his fathers (all except the spider on his chest)

this one you can REALLY see the eyes best in

and then here is the 90's Todd Mcfarlane i was referring to.
Spiderman1.jpg

Todd was working on Amazing wayyy before they gave him his own book (Spider-man) - and he wasn't "helping" on Amazing - he was the featured artist - it didn't take long for him to become the hot new thing - if you started with Spider-man, you're really missing out on some great stuff done in Amazing - mostly because Todd didn't write Amazing - and That's a good thing - he's a terrible writer.

And I can see the comparison you're making between JR and SR with his older work - but keep in mind, Marvel used to be very strict when it came how their chacters were drawn back in the old days - JR was simply following the character sheets and more than likely trying to immitate his father's style - then Mcfarlane changed what sold as Spider-man's look. JR, Eric Larson all adopted a more cartoony style - Romita JR ( who was on Web of) seems to have kept these traits all the way up to now which leads me to believe wevare seeing his true style or what his art has morphed into.

That makes sense. Yeah, unfortunately, i haven't gotten the chance to read all of the comics. Mostly just the Ditko ones (since i was never allowed to read spider man comics during the time when Mcfarlane started doing his comics... dont know why).
Quick small off topic question though, if i made a suit based of of Romita Jr.s original work, would it still make sense to title it "Romita Jr. Style spider man"?

Hey Ditko is all that counts baby!

Hmmm - I think most people associate JR's work with what he did on Web Of - after Mcfarlane set the style - just call it Romita style and let whomever run with their fancy.

Okay! Bcause the style of Spider on the suit looks like the Romita Jr style, but i wanted to do the Romita Sr. style eyes and web wings.

i think the bigger lenses will be cool. huge fan of the comics suit and the new movie suit, but bigger lenses are a plus. they dont need to be 'ultimate' big, but a little bigger could be sweet

Okay so i found some pictures online that someone has Photoshopped... gives us a good idea of the "bigger" eyes.... I DID NOT MAKE THESE! I couldn't find who did, but whoever it was did a great Photoshop job!
