New Predator Pepakura Armour ready for download

Slowly I read through all the entries.
First of all a BIG THX for movieman! (y)You did a fantastic job! (y)

Initially I was looking for appropriate files, because I would like to make a costume.
I had no experience, and no idea how to begin. And I accidentally got here.
To exercise I made a Berserker Mask.
Now Im thinking, which will be housing a PC what is related to the costume

Stickboy: try it whit Pepakura Viewer (Not the Designer !)

Edit: and a BIG THX for gremlin! (y) for sharing the files and responds until movieman works :)

Hi just another update to the Alien Bust/head.... for those who would like a different textured version I have now added a grid dome version.

gridheadalien.jpg

I have added this texture to both the front and the back of the head for a total head look should you want to make a full head and not just the bust.
I have put them together into a Rar file for your conveniance and you can download it from here: http://www.4shared.com/rar/o5YNs7ZJ/Grid_alien_head_or_bust.html

So I just thought I would chim in on the fact I finished folding the alien bio. This is the first pep thing I have ever done, and wow, so not easy!!! I am going to add a thin clear resin and turn it into an amature. Just wondering if this is one of the harder pep files or do I just suck at this lol?

Hey don't knock yourself....trust me none of us found it easy build pep items at first.... but the more you do the quicker and better you get at it, it's the cutting out that is a pain, thats why I purchased a craftrobo cutter, saves a lot of time cutting and also prefs the fold lines for easy folding, if you plan to do alot of cutting then buy one. I have assembled some real complex peps in my time.... some are easy some are a pain.... but in the end well worth it.

Here is a youtube video on craftrobo which shows someone using one of the version to cut out Pepakura files http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOunKUAEOAg

Okay so I have successfully built the chest armor. But it is hollow how are you guys making this thing sturty..... I have fiberglass resin the outside twice. I know for the backpack I put expanding foam on the inside and it is hard as a rock now. But the chest armor I know if I try that it will blow up like a balloon....

Any ideas of what I can fill it with. Really does not seem practical to try to fiberglass mat the inside of it. Unless I cut all the interior pieces out.

fiberglass the inside too with fiberglass mats or fibers sheets... then it will be hard and light

Yes I am very familiar with that fiberglass mat it just seems impossible to get the mat in between The outer layer and the inner layer. Its at my friends house right now so I can take pictures but I have some from a previous thread........

4 example up in that collar area The only opening I have to get my hands up in there is at the very bottom of the front part. The only thing I could do I guess is cut out the interior pieces that I don't really need anyways. ???????????

i guess i am just gonna cut the interior pieces so i can get up in there it wont matter you wont see it when im wearing it.... now how the hell;l am i gonna attach the backpack to the chest armor!!!!!!!!!!!!

The chest armour can be done in two ways... one complete peice (a bitch to get on and off as you'll have to make it wider to get your arms and body into) or two peice usually attached together on the sholders via fasters or clips and on the side under the arms.

either way :-

1. You need to make some cardboard support beams and glue them inside - in place so that the chest armour sits as it should (shape wise)... or use anything to hand you can cut to measure and glue (only a little amount of glue so you can remove later) in place like small dowls etc...

The item should then be in perfect form/shape as if on your body etc.

2. Resin the outside. Just plain mixed fibre glass resin... leave to set hard.... The armour shoul hold shape by itself now...

3. Carefully remove a few of the supposrt from the inside - the resin in the outside can crack of course as its thin!

4. With a few supports still intaked - start fibre glassing the inside with the fibreglass resin and sheets ... cut the sheets into reasonable sized squares for easy of appliction and overlapping etc.... start off with one layer and go right upto the edges and close to the remaining supports.

4. Leave to set - remove remaining supports and apply firbreglass and sheets/matting etc and then i'd suggest another layer on the inside with the sheetin as the chest armour is going to be abused quite alot with movement.

5. Once done user filler or rondo (filler + fibreglass resin = mix up then + harder) to shape and fill out... then sand to shape...

hope this helps!

for a perminant solution

Once both items are resin'ed and strengthen like i put above simple resing each peice were it'll make contact and push together, get some clips or something to wrap around it to hold it in place... then cut some matting into strips and put them over the joins and resin etc... will be solid as a rock... fill and sand around to make a blend of some kind so you don't see a join etc

Yea I have the outside fiberglass like twice. It holds it shape beautifully. My only issue was getting the fiberglass mat up in the really tight areas....

I don't have it with me its at my friends house. I will take some better pictures when I get it. I built it in two pieces then hot glued them together... so I don't even know if I can put it on lol...... but I already have plans to cut it in half if I have too. I might use a bunch of strong neodymium magnets to hold the 2 pieces together
