Hi I am Movieman

I am new to this forum, I am a big Pepakura user.... I have created and unfolded 100's of items... some I have created myself and others I have found trawling through the internet and unfolded because no one else has done it yet.

During one of my hunts I found some Predator armour, which I have been unfolding overtime... and still working on it, some of it can be a little complex for the novice to attempt.... but all well worth the time to build.... I have just about everything to build and fit out a full Predator costume including new Bio helmet, throwing disc and spear. The armour I have is for the shoulders, crotch, ankles, wrist, chest and shoulder weapon. I have built some of it, and hence the scale is I believe is correct. There are a few problems with the wrist 3d Graphics which could be by passed during the building process and a bit of building skill.... as I found these items and did not create them, credit belongs to that person whom ever they are, the unfold has been done by me.

I have uploaded the items I have built so far and they fit lovely at the scale I set.

3D pictures of items done so far are below.

Scale not set by me, but guess it is not far off correct.

Ok version 1 chest armour is ready, little complex. the grey area at the rear is where you attach the backpack, may need a little winging in a few places, but well worth it. I think this chest unit is based on the hero predator in AVP 1. This is set to fit me, 44 inch chest, X-large, I set this to 28 to fit me, reduce to 26 for medium size. Also you may choose not to build the inner part of chest armour for speed, as it is not required.

I do hope this will be of help to anyone on this forum.

Awesome! Welcome to the lair. Great first post for sure. We love when ppl come here with something to bring to the table or contribute. This will be of huge help to many for sure.

If you're super handy with the Pep, I actually have a thread for some robocop pep files several users are working on trying to unfold. Maybe you could lend us your expertise?

I have robocop armour somewhere on my computer drive, and yes I can unfold just about anything going, I also have a load of stargate armour and props done, including zats and powerstaffs, full new version Cyberman armour from Doctor Who and thats for starters.... my main interest with pepakura is life sized items and costumes.... and I also do large figurine models which all stand around 75 cms to 1 meter..... I have also started on a new version dalek from Doctor Who, which could be used as templates in the construction of wooden versions.

Just ask I may already have what someone is looking for, I have been doing this for a very long time.
I have decide to build a full predator outfit for next halloween, this year we did Judges from Judge dredd and the year before we create 4 Cylon centurians.... which went amazing and we were suprised how many people knew what we were.

The Predator crotch armour is now ready for downloading..... please see first post at top of page for the link.

Just a tip.... for flexi armour try coating paper items in layers of brushed on latex, will make for a very strong flexible parts. You could even pre colour the latex with water paints.

To read a Pepakura file you first need to go to this link and download the free viewer: http://www.tamasoft.co.jp/pepakura-en/
Then you will beable to open the PDO files and print them off, plus if you click on the parts it will show you where they belong on the 3D model.... a great help when constructing..... if you wish to use the designer program you will need to purchase a license.... then you will beable to unfold 3D models and rescale.

I need more foam!

I will try to make you AVP 1 shoulder armour pep file into foam!

Great photos..... I have alot more to do when I can, I should beable to upload 2 typrs of predator armour after new year, I have already uploaded another version of the shoulder cannon. I must upload some photos of the items I have assembled in 200grm card, will start fibre glassing it all when the warmer weather arrives.

Glad to help all you predator fans out.

steve merry christmas.
Thanks man these files are really nice and real easy to use nice lay out

never really done this before how would i go about fiberglassing like the cannoni mean i have to do all of it from the outside.........like the back pack i can get to the inside so if u got any tips that would be great.

personaly I cant wait for the chest armor and gauntlet

The good thing about the predator stuff is that it is not needed to be smoothed out, there is a rough texture to it, plus you will need to glue lots of detail on to the surface.

There a few ways about this..... but first step is to brush coat a couple of layers of fibreglass resin on the outside and alow it it to set hard. now you can do either of these or even both if you want. first way is to make a hole in the back of the item just big enough to pour in enough resin to quarter fill it, tape over the hole and keep rotating it as even as poss to line the inside until the resin starts to set.... I have done this to a number of hand props to great effect and strength..... you can always add more or even fill it solid afterwards for max strength.

Or you purchase fibreglasse tissue mat (I prefere this on all my prop making, you can get a fantastic smooth finish with it)
and apply 2 to 3 layers.... this will make it stronger than a vacform version and still be quite light.... if you wish to be rid of any tissue detail showing through just add a coat of resin or thin coat of P38 (Bondo.... car body filler.... called P38 in UK) and sand down..... this process can be used on all parts...... but I recommend the fibreglass tissue.... normal mating is way to thick, thirsty and not important unless you need the strength to stop a bullet....lol trust me tissue is the best and you will love the easy use and smooth clean finish.... just 2 to 3 layers is more than enough.... I have been making costume and armour this way since 1979..... yup I am that old .....lol.
