One question on the lighted version Frank posted was for the engines.

Technically, the only lighted parts would be the small holes inside the engines, but I wondered if the effect would end up intense enough. Is the entire round plate inside the engine surface clear on Frank's buildup, or just the small holes arranged in circles? Also, is there any flickering effect incorporated?

Good Question.
The kit comes with resin pieces for the engine.
There are clear parts but they will be available separately and soon.

MOST people will not light the kit...so thats why we chose to not include clear parts for the engine. For those of you that know about casting..clear parts are a real pain.

Actually, Frank, I was wondering how you rendered your nice effect. Did you mask for the holes, or is the entire rear plate left clear?

Also, for the control panels, did you apply the decals to the clear control panels, and backlight?

Any new news on when these will be ready again?

Also just checking yto see if I'm on the list as I havn't gotta a definate responce back from my email.

I second that... waiting while I build the Raider :)

Sorry.
Moe was here visiting and we were too busy to spend much time on the puter.
We have recieved the pilot from the our Sculptor, and after much discussion we decided to rework the helmet.

We were just not happy with it.

We also switched to a different clear reson so all the PLATINUM Molds for Clear had to be converted to TIN BASED. USually clear like PLAT but in this case its the other way arround.

We also talked about the Mark 7, as well as some none BSG ships.

More updates soon.

These are obviously pre-weathering and it still needs some touch ups and some more detailing with paints and some more piping on the lower engine details.

What colors did you use foe the exposed engine areas?

Steve

AAAAHHHHH.... Man, I haven't posted update pictures... I forgot, how bad the piping looked on that side... :p I'll post pictures later, I've finished the Viper exept for sealing the canopy because I'm waiting for good ol starbuck...

As for the colors on the engines:

Internal walls and backgrounds Testors MM Acrylic Gunship grey

The Gold/Brass color is Testors MM Acrylic Jet Exhaust

Then I also used Testor MM Acrylic Steel and Testors Enamel Silver

The Exhaust nozzels are Tamiya Acrylic Metalic Grey I think I used some of that color also for exposed areas as well.

Hope that helps.

Chris

Here are some Detail shots. I used the flash to show the detail in the engine area an the first picture so it washed out alot of the weathering detail i did, but you can see the color and piping better. [EDIT] the Engine detail pics are older pictures from before the model was finished but is better for showing the finished engine detail.

Wing edge detail.

Some battle damage. I painted white where the actual "hole" would be to make it appear that the ground crew repaired it and filled it in.

Cockpit shots and other views. It's hard to see but I added in the 2 tubes that are on the top of the seat too.

I actually hand painted the dratis display with the intersecting Rings that is normally seen but you can't make it out in these lousy pictures.

Dobber,
Great Job.. What did you use to 'Tint' the red lenses on the wing tips?

Thanks for the remarks guys. t2sides, I used Tamiya Acrylic Clear Red for the lights and painted silver on the conection points on the wings.

Just wanted to chime in on how amazing this thing is. I was able to check out a friend's copy and just have to say that Moe has done an incredible job on this thing. Truly top notch, not that I'd expect anything less.
