New NBC streaming Battlestar Galactica reboot

You guys could do what I did with Star Trek Discovery. Subscribed to CBS All Access, binged the show then canceled my subscription. In the long run, a lot cheaper then buying DVDs to a show I'll never rewatch. Or many of subscription services allow multiple users. See if you have a friend that's willing to share, or give them a few bucks a month, or take them out eat. That's how I watch Netflix.

Based on tweets & clarification from the showrunner, this will NOT be a reboot, but in the Moore universe.

He keeps pointing to the "This has happened before & will happen again" line. I'm beginning to think since the original was 150,000 years in our past, & it left off with current humanity about to repeat the same mistakes, this one could actually be set several thousand years in the future, with the story being for us to finally break the cycle.

I'd watch the fool out of that show... Illegally... Through some back channel. Lol

That was exactly what I did with season 1 of STD and I was going to do the same for season 2 until I heard how bad it was so I didn't even bother to waste the $9.99 on it.

Yeah I'm not subscribing to ANOTHER service for every network. Not even for SW, and not for ST, and not for BSG. I think I anticipate seeing a lot of pirate flags flying in the future if they really think everyone can pay for this many services.

:D :D:D:D(y)

I was mightily unimpressed by how Moore wrapped everything up. And if the story is "This has happened before and will happen again," I'd answer "Which means I've seen it already and don't need to watch it again now."

Yes the Dallas Shower scene comes to mind.... It was ALL a dream

Too soon to speculate but yes a lot of fans were disappointed how it all ended. But "Earth" was found the Hull of the Galactica was unrepairable and the fleet went into the sun. STILL a better ending than Games of Thrones

I just was never able to get into that new show. Maybe I didn't give it enough of a chance. Seems I remember watching about the first 6 or 7 episodes and--other than the space battles--just didn't really care for it.

I don't understand the people who love it so much, same I can't get liking Discovery, Bayformers, Twilight, Fifty Shades, or Man of Steel. Only a couple of the characters were even likable, almost everyone was deeply flawed, and the angst and interpersonal conflict just went from irritating to soul-crushing over the course of the first couple years. I never even bothered finishing the series because I just couldn't stand it. Also gave Caprica, Razor, and Blood and Chrome a chance and all of them had way too high a melodrama quotient.

It is, in my opinion, Ron Moore's biggest weakness as a writer -- he relies on interpersonal conflict for his drama. I admit I like to see the heroes working together to solve the external threat. Not always perfectly harmoniously, but not constantly sniping at or distrustful of each other. I'm more PvE than PvP.

That was my issue with it, as well: too much melodrama. Felt like I was watching "As The World Turns".
Just wasn't fun. I had the same issue with the Lost In Space reboot. I never even finished watching it.
I wanted to flush that whole miserable family out the airlock.

Regardless of the reboot... The show arc eventually you have to find Earth sooner or later and the show will end. Sorry but you can only stretch the story line for so long before people just start losing interest. We know the math folks loose interest that affects show rating and poof. I love the Original and as well the Re-imagined series. The re-imagined Series didn't end well felt like a little Matrixie "This has happened before and it will happen again" was one of the quote we heard as the show developed. Olmos had said he didn't want to do Adama if their was going to be like space aliens or something. I myself felt that beings of light were indirectly involved, but never really revealed on the show. As for reboots they are good, but in the end story writers and such need to start coming up with newer and original stories. Oh well we will see what comes of it.
I actually felt as if the original series followed a very similar path as the reboot. The fact is, the original also had a hard time dealing with the cat and mouse chase too. And just like the newer series brought in Gods, the original series eventually brought in the beings of light.

But they both had the same narrative problems

CBS gets my money through HULU... I want all CBS content.

NBC gets my money through HULU... I want all NBC content.

Why do I have to pay extra for Star Trek and BSG?
Except now that Disney (ABC likely to those networks) owns Hulu, so the question would be why would they want to stay affiliated with Hulu? It would makes sense for them to stay for the customers benefit, but that doesn't help them, because in their world we'll all jump over and give them our money directly.

Didn't like NuTrek, didn't like Galactica2k so i've got no problem. :)

But like I said before it's the new 'gotta have a franchise' of the movie world. Everyone has to have a streaming service..."They got one, we should have one too!'.

Well, as a big fan of BSG, both old and new, I will most certainly try to watch it. However, living in the Netherlands probably means that I will have to wait for it to be released on DVD.

Then again, we already have the Disney streaming service here, so who knows?

Certainly hoping for something in the Blood and Chrome time period. I feel like there are so many stories left untold there.
