New NBC streaming Battlestar Galactica reboot

I just don't see the need for a reboot of a series that has already been rebooted. I'm also tired of reboots in general that crap all over the shows I watched as a child and young adult. I'm still shocked they haven't rebooted the Batman TV series. I can just see Robin as an angsty teenager with an attitude. Another show I'm surprised they haven't done is Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, that would seem to be perfect for the idiots in hollyweird.

I wont say anything about the DUNE reboot reboot then lol

I'm talking more about rebooting a TV show than movies, which is a completely different conversation that I don't want to derail this thread with. I loved shows like Hawaii Five-O and Magnum PI and as far as I'm concerned they have been ruined with the reboots, regardless of how successful they might be.

you forgot the Dune mini series lol. So this is like the 3rd reboot. GC

Some things I try and delete from my mind even though it had it's good points. The only reason I even watched them was I got hooked on the books a couple of years before the Lynch version came out and couldn't help but see them. I've often felt over the years that if you read a book first you will always be disappointed with the movie made from it. A good case in point are the James Bond movies which up until The Man with the Golden Gun pretty much followed the plot lines of the books, with minor changes, while later ones used the names and characters but had little to nothing to do with the books.

I'm so old, I remember when a reboot was called a remake!

Irwin Allen tried for years, and his Wife after him. I have read that part of the problem is that IA sold off parts of his shows to finance them, so the rights are spread out. To get the show remade, you would have to payoff the people who own the other parts.

David.

I think this could work very well if they stick with the "all this has happened before and will happen again" framework.

As if humanity is caught in a never ending cycle.

Look to the legend of zelda game series for inspiration on this. It's a masterclass on telling the same story over and over again

Capt. John Sheridan or Cmdr. John Shepard can fix those cycle problems for ya.

I agree I'd rather they do a slightly different spin using that idea than try to completely redo the exact same thing.

Thanks for that, I used to argue with people that I was sure I'd seen it (the comic adaptation has Baltar being executed as well), but I never could find confirmation of it in the pre-internet era. Frankly, I'd long ago forgotten all about it until just now...

P51 This is a followup of a video I found on youtube which shows the two scenes. I loved Baltar's voice and of course Sir McNee's as the evil IL

I'm glad they aren't doing a literal reboot. I think if they wanted to follow the last BSG they could do something with the "It's all happened before, it will happen again..." theme.

I watched the original BSG pilot and I'm still surprised the showed an obelisk smashing that dog! I mean you don't see it but it falls right on the dog.

That’s a surprise I have to watch that again
