Hello all:
Finally I finished the monster Nº 1 of the hologram chess game at the Millenium Falcon in SW ANH.
Here are the pics of my sculpt and the only reference pics I could use.
Next week I will post it in the JY with the pics of a painted and detailed piece.

It has 8 (eight) pieces.

The set is being completed...
Now I am starting with Nº 2 then. (This one):

I'd like to work in the other two if there are not any other taker...

Russ did 2 pieces more and I did Nº 5 that is already in the JY.
Here is the link for Nº 1 & Nº 5:

Let me know your opinions.

Regards.

this is a very cool run...

i'm kinda waiting for them all to be done and see them painted up to pull the trigger on the whole set...

it would be really cool to have a holo-chess board with all these guys on display

thanks for all the hard work.

Awesome .................
Looks great ..

This project is going to be a durn cool group effort of us RPF'ers, and apparently complete ..

.. Hikeeba ...

Look forward to the next fella

WOW...I am ready fo rthe next one.....

just preordered the 1:6 and man these are so much more kickass...the SS ones seem a bit off... but will make a neat display

What a great project, and very nicely done.

Next, you have to create a game that utilizes them.

Excellent.

Looks great.... I wonder, in years to come, whether these could be molded in flexable urethine rubber with a wire frame :)

Thank you for all your kind words.

I don't have nice experiences painting rubber, but it would be great.
For this last one, maybe it could be possible to have a rigid resin version with a wire frame so it would be bendable at the joints...

I have an idea... maybe this will work with all the chess pieces... if you are making the molds out off silicone then if they are painted with mold release its a simple matter of popping in a wire frame and filling the mold with pigmented urethine rubber. You can then paint the figures with the specialise paints supplied for this kind of material :) You know the little rubber bugs and dinosaurs you used to buy at toy shops... I'm sure they are made from this stuff.

I will try with different samples and I will inform you what I achieved here.
Any idea for the wire frame material?

Regards.

I'd use just any standard fencing wire from down the hardware store. Its usually not that expensive.
