New Hasbro Toy Lightsabers

That horrific Falcon, small crappy ships like the X wing, cheesy crappy toys, FX sabers taking a huge step backwards. Hasbro has really dropped the ball on TFA. I can't believe how bad they are doing. I was sure they had surprises for us on "Force Friday" like a Legacy Falcon with TFA look, etc.

I really am having a hard time watching Hasbro and their junk come out.

STILL NO PROP LICENSE. We know everything license wise except props.

It should have been called "Crap Friday"

I sniped it at 3 seconds left and was highest bidder but got outbid at 1 second... Didn't have a bladeplug or box though.

That's the way the auto bid works. The guy that had the highest bid at the time most likely had placed a higher bid that was showing. When you make a bid, technically you are the highest bidder but then instantaneously the other guy's original bid, because it was higher than yours, bid to the next increment that would outbid yours. Let's pretend that guy's secret original bid was $500.00 and only you are the one bidding. It doesn't matter when you place your bid or how many times you place a bid, you will not win unless you bid over $500.

The other pet peeve is people who complain that they lost an auction by a small margin. Well of course you did, everyone does. Even if that guy's original bid was $100,000.00 his first bid will only appear as high as it needs to be to take the lead (and/or match a reserve price). When you bid, and lets say you bid $175.50, his bid automatically went to $178.50. Even though he bid $100,000.00, the system is only going to auto bid just enough to beat your bid (the increment is based on price levels so that $3.00 difference is just for the sake of this example).

The only thing you can do in any bidding situation is bid the most you are willing to spend on that item. This way if you lose, at least can be comforted by the fact that it was just to high for you.

Nothing from Hasbro was appealing to me. Items that I liked were not a Hasbro product. I liked the Legos, The new Star Wars: TFA X-Wing Miniature Game core set by Fantasy Flight, and the 6" Elite die cast figures at the Disney Store (the only item I actually bought was the diecast Elite Rey w/ BB-8).

The only Hasbro item I had any interest in buying was the Chopper/Zeb figure two pack and I did not see it. Granted I only went to one store, Target. I'm not actually sure if the two packs were available for Force Friday or not.

We all know how eBay works. I think this is more of a semantics argument than anything else and to be fair, anybody who puts their actual max bid in way before an auction is over is stupid because usually it just gets driven way up. Your best bet is to wait until the end and hope that whatever you put in the last few minutes wins. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, but that's the best way to get the best deal. I say I "lost it." I know that the guy could have bid $1,000,000 and no matter what I did it wouldn't have beat him, but what other term should I be using? I could say, "hey, one just sold for the reasonable price of $178, too bad my max bid of $175 wasn't enough to win this one," but that is a lot more to type out than, "I missed one that went for $178." Also, since we don't know what the guy's max bid was, maybe we did just miss it. He could have just bid $180.

Yeah, at 3 seconds the bid was $140 and I bid $176.01 (in case anyone bid $175 :) or $176 to be one over $175) I got a flash at 2 seconds that I was the highest bidder and then at 1 second I was outbid. After looking at the bidding history the final guy came out of nowhere and no telling what he bid. I really didn't want to go overboard on this saber as I couldn't get a response from the seller on whether it came with the blade plug and if not that would bug me to no end. Also, I'm tenaciously (i.e. delusionally) keeping up the hope that these new sabers are somehow removable blade.

I have a guy that has some for sale on fleabay that said he would carefully open up a Vader tonight to see how it works and to verify it is fixed blade... Hope he comes through and if so I'll post as soon as I hear something.

Got a response from my guy:

I just walked in and I had some time to my self so I very carefully opened the
red Darth Vader lightsaber. It's absolutely beautiful when it lights up and it's
made very well. The hilt is chromed metal with metal parts and it weight is nice
and perfectly balanced the way a lightsaber should be. This is not a cheap
toy,

" It's an elegant weapon for a more civilized time"

There
are two small round mounting brackets on the back side of the saber where it
would clip on to your belt with a belt clip if you were to wear it off your
belt. That is where on my other models with the removable blade would have to be
unscrewed to detach the blade from the hilt. The finger gripped screws are very
tightly screwed in and I'm not going to try to loosen them with a wrench or
tool. If the blade was removable the belt clip screws would be able to be
unscrewed by hand and not be so tight. With my experience I think the blade is
perminatly attached but I could be wrong. I just don't feel comfortable trying
to loosen the blade on these brand new collectors item.
I hope I answered
your questions and please let me know if you want to purchase my item. Good luck
with your lightsaber purchase and " May the Force be with you"......

Jedi Mike.

I emailed him back to see if there was anything in the instructions on the blades being removable and did he notice flash-on-clash...

And that's that... A shout out to mike-fabrizio on fleabay for being so kind as to open up one of the new Black Series Vaders he has and fire it up to see the new "tech". Here is his response:

There is no instruction booklet in the box. Instead
Disney went a cheaper route and included a black and red folded sheet of paper
with instructions on how to operate the switch. It also tells you about the FCC
warning. There is nothing on the box or in the directions that indicates that
the blade is removable. The sound seems very similar to the older versions but I
can't really tell without the other lightsabers side by side to compare. When
you tap on the blade it clangs just like the other older version I used to own.
They might of upgraded the sound board/chip but it very hard to tell without
having the others to listen to. I hope I answered all your questions.

Good luck and I hope you find the right items.
Mike

What we have here are officially repackaged 2007 fixed blade sabers (which ironically are going for more right now than the new ones). Mike has 2 Vaders and 1 Yoda left so if you are going to get one please get them from him because he is awesome.

These should be able to be converted to Luxeon with removable blades by Ultra Force Sabers (though I expect they are already swamped).

I'm not gonna cry... I'm not... ...dammit :cry

Ugh. Such a let down.

Soon as the movie comes out, they'll re-release them with removable blades.

It's so predictable.

hopefully someone steps up and makes removable blade kits, thats all we got going for us now... :(

Were the 2007s more accurate size wise than the older fatter ones?

The Custom Saber Shop still makes the conversion kits for the Yoda and Vader, just not the Luke. No one makes the Luke conversion kits and only Ultra Force Sabers currently has the service to convert them. Hopefully that will change though...

Ok, before I stomp off and pout in the corner over Hasbro's inexcusable **********, I thought I'd point you guys in the right direction before the stampede hits.

I picked up a 2005 Vader off Craigslist this week for $50 (HA, dumb kids) and I plan to convert it to Luxeon myself. I ordered the materials from the Custom Saber Shop to do the conversion and everything is currently in stock but not sure how much longer given that new Vaders are coming out. You need:

Conversion Kit
8.7 Degree Collimator Lens
Lens Holder
Rebel Star LED
Thermal Tape

It comes to $40.45 + $6.72 shipping for a total of $47.17

Here is the link for converting the 2005:

http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com/showthread.php?1-05-MR-Vader-Done-amp-kits-available

and here it is for the disassembly of the 2007 which is the same as the new ones. The wiring instructions should be the same as the 2005:

http://forums.thecustomsabershop.co...HFX-Vader-ANH-Disassembly-only-kits-available

Don't want you guys to go looking for this in a month or so and find everything is gone.

i contacted ultra force sabers and haven't heard back yet, to be honest i haven't researched that company yet which I'm going to do now

i have seen the custom saber shops conversions and they look real good. so these black series are exact copies of the pervious series? if so TCSS is going to be real busy pretty soon

I'm pretty sure the hilts are going to be identical to the non removable sabers.

They are probably just going to have updated sounds, be more sensitive to movements and have better scrolling in the LEDs.

This is Hasbro people!

The better stuff will come out after they've cashed in on the first wave stuff!

They've been doing it for years!
