New Hasbro Toy Lightsabers

so I was at MegaCon last weekend and found what I think to be a pretty cool representation of the full size replica, yes definitely a toy but added stroke of awesomeness..... Darth Vader signed it!

That's a Rubies costumes saber based on the ESB version of the Vader saber. It's actually a fair bit oversized, but that doesn't matter now... It's signed! Both the Ultimate FX and the new "flick out blade" basic saber are pretty decent versions of the ANH. For toys, that is.

Yay, more cheap plastic toys! The FX line is dead. Hasbro totally screwed the pooch on this.

The last new design that came out in regular FX line as the Kitt Fisto about a year ago.

I do not remember seen anything saying there was a Plo Koon lightsaber in development except for the Rubies version.

I'm afraid I can't agree. Which do you think they can move more of and make more money on?

The full on FX line is a bit pricey for a kids toy and not durable enough for an adult toy. With the removable blade, at least they'll make dececent belt hangers, but even then their appeal is limited. There's far more kids and parents who will buy these than the MR/Hasbro Signature models. It's kind of just they way things are.

I welcome the Ultimate FX line. It's exactly what I want for the price I'm willing to pay. If I want something better, I can always build it. For the DIY sect, the soundboard is better than the collapsible blade electronic sabers but not nearly as exspensive an investment as the MR/Hasbro Signature item, and if you don't mind the blade, you could even have the scrolling LED effect on power up/power down.

On that note, the same can be said for the Ultimate line. To expensive for a disposable kids toy like the flashlights were, and definately too cheap for the collectable market. The MR/Hasbro soundboards are basic at best in the DIY market and the Ultimate board is just as cheap. There are much better boards for the DIY guys.

No, the Signature line was great for what they were. They were good for being modified with Luxeons, better boards and blades that make them much more duelable. You can't do that with the Ultimates.

Hasbro screwed the pooch, yep, definately screwed the pooch.

Yep, that Obi TPM looks pretty nice, i wonder how fat it will be...

Interesting that Hasbro gave Grand Moff Tarkin that "mystery" blaster ponda baba carried :lol

The Ultimate FX line is not marketed for adults RP and they are not for the purpose of tearing apart for DIY prop builders. They are toys for kids and in that they are a great toy. I bought one for my son (Luke's ROTJ) and he loves it as would I if I was his a kid. That's my reall facination with these more than anything. I would not buy one of these for myself because they do not fit in well with what I collect. But if my son likes and wants a certian version, I would happily get it for him.

$35 is a fair price for the construction, detail and technology you get. Often a store like Walmart and Target put them on sale or temp price cut down to $30 and a few times Target have had $5 off coupons for Hasbro toys at the same time, so you can also find them for $25 when everything aligns correctly.

The thing is really tough too. He's been battling with it against my FXs and his older hasbro sabers and no issues.

I am sorry if Hasbro is not making the products you want but that is no reason to crap on a really good line of RP toys just because you're a hater.

Haha, not a hater, just don't know why they would abandon a market that has been so good to two companies.

I would not say they abandoned the FX line. They are still making them and online stores are restocking all the time. There just has been no news of new releases but it does not mean there are none coming. After all, they were quite about the Kitt Fisto, it seemed to have come out of mid air. Hopefully there will be, more. I know I would like to see some new ones.

I bought the Kitt Fisto. I like the removeable blade and emitter cap system and the addition of belt hooks/holders is a really nice touch.

Agreed, the Kit is probably the best one so far. Hopefully we will be surprised again.

If they produce the Plo Koon/Luminara Unduli/Pepsi Mace Windu (aka Bastardised Maul) for the Signature line, I'd be very tempted to get that one. I never did see costume saber version in the stores though.

I think he has that backwards. I believe he means the Mace Windu TMP Visual Dictionary version. The Mace Pepsi version is the Kitt Fisto.

Here is the source of the issue:

I forget the real story but I "think" it went something like this: The kit Fisto (pepsi) version is the actual saber he was photographed with and Ithink you can just make it out in the end of TPM during the ceremony. However, when it came time for the Vis Dict, they did not have a picture of the real saber used or they made the mistake and had to come up with a quick fix so they used the plo koon style and photoshopped it onto Mace.

Not heard anything yet. The New York Toy fair was a few weeks ago. That's where they usually announce all the cool stuff coming out this year. There were no new FX Signature sabers announced. The only sabers announced were an Ultimate Maul single and an Ultimate Obi TPM. The single Maul will later come with an adapter toward the end of the year (why the long wait?) so that you can make a full staff.
