New Hasbro Toy Lightsabers

If anyone's interested, K-Mart currently has the Ultimate FX sabers on sale for $27.99. Most stores just have the Maul, but that's still the whole double ended saber for under $60 (25% less than the TRU exclusive double pack). Suprisingly, the store I was just in had one Maul, plus one each of the Anakin ROTS and Luke ROTJ. Of all of them, I've notice the Vader seems to be the least popular (in any type of store, the ones that are left are most often that).

I agree. There should have been some sort of hilt transformation as well.

In the past, I have been a huge supporter of Hasbro. But the last couple years have been dismal. I annotate believe how they have turned away from their core base and spent such an effort putting out Angry Bird garbage. Even some rest planned items have been dumped or pushed back. I can only hope that at this point this period is a rebuilding process and things will get better.

Got two of these at home, the boy and I regularly have running saber battles around the house. They're great for the price. My only gripe is that they're not bright enough - are there any mods out there to replace the leds with something brighter?

I want the Yoda UFX saber, but not too keen on the Anakin/Vader color change blade. They already have a separate Anakin blue saber and separate Vader red UFX...just seems like a ploy for more money

I was just in Toys R Us and saw the color changing Vader, but no Yoda. The hilt is about the same as the standard Vader, and the blade is more or less the same. I was wondering how they would integrate the color change and the "ladder effect" power up/down. The short answer is: they didn't. It's an LED (or several) in the hilt, lighting the blade. It seems about as bright as the standard Ultimate FX, which is much better than the old Master Replicas "Joe Jedi" lightsaber construction kit. In the "demo" mode, it starts out blue and automatically changes to red, accompanied by clashing sounds and Vader breathing. Hopefully in "play" mode the color can be selected manually.

I'm a little "cash poor" at the moment, but I'm at least thinking about planning to get this one... Maybe.

I own a Force FX Vader, the toys in no way compare to the Force FX by Hasbro nore do they even come close to a MR or Custom Saber. There plastic they will fade and the electronics are cheaply made. buy it for your kids buy it to make something out of, don`t buy it to display they look as cheap as there priced.

Cash poor? there like 20 bucks a tru.. most times there are sales bringing these down to roughly 15 before taxes..

But they are fun! And they're $37.99 down here and recent medical issues are looking to tie up a bit my income, so I'm hesitant to make the investment.

Update on function: It appears it DOES have LEDs in the blade, but curiously no "ladder effect". Also, I managed to reach into the package and switch it into "play mode" and when you ignite it, it is alternately red or blue. There is no provision for switching colors while it's on (like the old style electronic Anakin saber introduced for the ROTS release).

It's now shown up in select Kmarts and Targets. I haven't been in Walmart for a while, so I don't know about that. No Yoda yet. No idea why, but the box art on all the new toys is now the red and orange "lava" look of the ROTS releases.

luckily I have a 6 year old who is also starwars mad, I can buy him the light sabers and have fun fighting with him while my FX sabers are nice and safe on the wall.. now he wants the yoda one but as in England, it may be a wait

For the Ultimate FX, Mace's would be new. Luke's would be re-boxing unless it is something other than the already offered ROTJ. They show and obi TPM in a box with Obi TMP photo on it so that is a re-boxing as well.

For the Force FX, Obi removable blade would be new. If I had to guess, it might be the TPM/AOTC version since they did that hilt already. Plus I know it had limited release and a lot of fans would like that (not that they really seem to be in touch with the fans theses days). Everything else seems a old offerings unless the Luke is something other than the ANH version like they are showing. They show the box of the ROTJ Luke, if that is a removable blade, it would be new but a lot of times Hasbro shows old items as in a display as well just to give potential retailers an idea of the product.

As long as they keep making the Luke ROTJ with thick neck, I would not consider purchasing it.
