New Doctor Who Series Discussion *Spoilers*

ONE OF US!!! ONE OF US!!! Which version do you want to start with? Pertwee, Baker, Davidson, McGann, Eccelston, Tennant or Smith?

Keep in mind collecting sonics is like getting a tattoo...next thing you know you're picking out your fifth.

Hahaha! Well, thanks to Usagi Pilgrim, I was able to get one of the Smith remote control sonics from ThinkGeek for just under $60! Wanted to give him some public kudos for helping me out! :thumbsup

It could be because I have a mild crush on the actress as well :D

She is a good actress and quite attractive I'll give you that. :)

Why don't you like the character?

I liked her in Silence, a lot. But the relationship between her and the Doctor seems VERY forced to me. She started off as a mysterious part of the Doctor's future and became an obnoxious character always saying "sweety" and "spoilers". To me she represents what's wrong with current Who.

It was over for me when she landed the TARDIS without the "parking break". Nevermind that every TARDIS always makes the sound, we need her to look superiour. She acts like a total tool about it too.

So I find her annoying and obnoxious. She can't go away soon enough for me. :)

*(These have all been the personal opinions of Michael Bergeron. Your mileage may vary.)

How does *that* work? $60?

I had one in my cart when they went on sale for 40% off. Then found a $10 off coupon. I bought one from them & now for some reason, they send me emails whenever they have a DW sale. I posted in another thread, if anyone wants one, send me a PM & I'll let you know when they go on sale.

I need to get another one since mine is now with Kurosawa.:D

Lost of speculation today that XMAS2013 will be Smith's last episode.

JLC hs already been confirmed for 2014. Smith...no.

The BBC on Matt Smith as The Doctor:

“We still hope show boss Steven Moffat can persuade Matt to stay a little longer, but the working hours are starting to take their toll and his role as the Doctor is closer to the end than the beginning now.”

From what I understand, Smith wants to do Hollywood. He already has a movie scheduled to shoot this fall (which is presumably when DW2014 would start filming).

Matt Smith is to make his US acting debut in a movie written and directed by Ryan Gosling, the Doctor Who star's publicist has confirmed.

The film, How To Catch A Monster, will mark Smith's first American production - as well Gosling's first foray behind the camera.

According to its website, the project will weave "fantasy noir, horror and suspense into a modern-day fairytale".

Eva Mendes and Mad Men star Christina Hendricks will also appear.

Gosling acted alongside Hendricks in 2011 thriller Drive, while Mendes plays his girlfriend in upcoming release The Place Beyond the Pines.

In the new film, Hendricks will play Billy, a single mother of two who is swept into a dark fantasy underworld when her 18-year-old son discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town.

The name of Smith's character is as yet unconfirmed, although according to industry newspaper Variety the 30-year-old will play the male lead.

:(

I wish people would stay in the role longer...

Not to mention I wish they would return to REGULAR SEASONS! It we had gotten regular seasons with Smith for his whole run it wouldn't feel as short but quite frankly I'm getting tired of Who being jerked all over the schedule like this. :thumbsdown

Here, here! This should be the beginning of his 4th year, not the end of his 3rd year! The 2011 'split year' was bad, but at least we got all 13 eps in that year. This whole 1212-2013 'share year' is annoying. Plus when Matt was announced, wasn't a 5 year contract announced as well? Something like $200.000.000 a year for five years?

Anyway.......

So I guess the whole conversation in early 2012 went like this.

BBC: So, next year is the big 50th anniversary!

MOFFAT: Yes, i'm so excited. I'm contacting the agents of the past Doctor's to get them all to appear. I'm having design create huge epic sets of far away planets and space ships. Aliens from all over will converge on the Doctor and his past incarnations, which will force him to the limits of his.....

BBC: Wait a minute. Where are you getting the money for all of this?

MOFFAT: From you!

BBC: From us?

MOFFAT: Yea, I mean this is DOCTOR WHO, the BBC's biggest money maker! This is the 50th anniversary episode. I was assuming you were going to go all out!

BBC: What? Wha.....Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah. No seriously, where are you getting the money from?

MOFFAT: Um, you........?

BBC: Dude, you have a regular season budget for next year. 13 eps and a special.

MOFFAT: But, but, but....just getting Tom Baker back alone will be the price of an entire episode!

BBC: Then get Colin Baker, i'm pretty sure you can get him for $20.00 and a case of beer!

MOFFAT: But....but.....

BBC: Work it out. And make it EPIC!

Moffat takes out the 13 scripts for Doctor Who 2013 with all of the multi Doctor episodes and his wild adventures and tosses them in the trash can. Decides that he better spilt the 2012 year in half and show the rest of it in 2013 so that the fans still 'feel' like they've gotten Who for two years and not just jipped out of a proper series for 2013. (With just one 'special' episode)

He sets down in front of the computer and.....

MOFFAT: How can I afford all of this with the same lously budget and not just making one star filled lame 60 minute episode?...................................I know! 3D! yea, that will save me!

I'd be surprised if Moffet was THAT involved. I'm betting he's distracted with other projects - Who is just his "day job".
