New Doctor Who Series Discussion *Spoilers*

Anyone else bummed that there's no new episode today? :(

Absolutely. Been watching series 1-4 though and I still have like ten episodes left of series 4 before I start watching all the classic ones I can find. So lucky for me I have some stuff to tide me over 'till Christmas. That and fanfiction. Should be more than enough to get me to Christmas and then to spring.

Very much so.

More bummed that it's 2.5 months to the next episode.

Less bummed that I know there's 7 starting in jan/feb (i hope), 50th anny is in 2013 with who knows what, AND i'll get to see Tom Baker again :)

(y)thumbsup:thumbsup

Here's hoping they knock it out of the park for the 50th!

Hopefully they will have a team of witters doing the 50th. I too am looking forward to Tom Baker as a villain as has been discussed recently.
I do not think he wants to come back as the Doctor but would welcome a guest starring role as a villain. That would be epic.

Year ago I kept saying I'd love to see Connery as a Bond Villain. I think he would have been awesome.

I've yet to watch the first episode but am I right in thinking that they've written the new show so that, older actors aside, it could fit into a number of past seasons rather than being a direct continuation of the last series.

If so, I actually quite like that idea.

Yep. It's as if seasons 7 & 8 didn't happen thus far. I've heard that the last episode of this season will do a little explaining though.

Just posting this here so everyone can watch. It's an unfilmed goodbye scene featuring Brian (Rory's Dad). Rory does the voiceover and the scene itself is a storyboard animation. Why they didn't film this scene baffles me, it would have fit perfectly after Amy's goodbye letter to the Doctor.

Doctor Who: P.S. - Series 7 2012 - BBC One - YouTube

Pretty sure the reason they didn't film it was because with that episode there were a lot of "endings". The more you draw an ending out the less powerful it becomes. Think "Return of the King". Good God there were about 40 endings in that movie!

That said I think this would have been a more powerful episode ending than the Amy letter honestly.

When Amy disappears show the Doctor devastated, pull out to show the two dates on the grave stone and then cut to this scene.

Then you could use the start of your Christmas special to deal with the Doctor's feelings. This is the end of Amy & Rory's story, not his. Wrap up all their loose ends first then move on.

Agreed.

I wonder who's parting messed him up more: Rose's or Amy's.

As much as it should be Rose he got over that REALLY quick and Matt's Doctor seems more needy than Tennant's.

This will fly in the face of a lot of fans but I didn't think Amy was that fantastic a companion. She was good yes, and I enjoyed her on the show but honestly I found Rory's story to be more interesting.
