New Doctor Who Series Discussion *Spoilers*

Not to mention that based on what was said in the episode, had the gunslinger killed him, he would have then gone out in the desert and killed himself. Thereby ending his life of killing as a killer. When Jex killed himself, he freed him (in a sense) to change his way of life from killing to protecting people and thereby having a chance at redemption himself.

I think that it is getting closer to the time when the Valeyard emerges. It is supposed to be around his 11th regeneration so that would be now. I would really like to see them go this route and stick with continuity

Wasn't the Valeyard an intermediary between what would be 12 and 13, the Twelfth and a half Doctor?

No Doctor I know would toss a guy out of town to be executed, and when the guy tries to come back, the Doctor sticks a gun in his face. Never.

First Doctor tried to murder a wounded caveman because he was slowing them down. Not let someone else do it, but outright murder him. So yes, there has been at least one Doctor that would have.

They're clearly gearing towards what was mentioned multiple times before which is the Doctor is dangerous when he travels alone. They pointed to it during Donna's season as well as in the Waters of Mars episode (amongst others).

Amy & Rory are going to choose a "non-Doctor" life, he's going to be about to do something bad (which has always been a part of the character, every Doctor to some extent has had moments of questionable morals) and the new companion will have something to do with bringing his perception back to a more human standard. A new "Rose" if you will.

Actually it's supposed to be around the regeneration between 12 & 13.

Re the light bulbs.

Flickering light bulbs in previous seasons were attributed to either the Cybermen or the Weeping Angels.

Perhaps this is a lead in to ep. 5?

And here I just thought that The Doctor was projecting...

A Doctor doing something horrible to save his people...taking that choice of something he should not have done, and now atoning to help people while avoiding something that could bring them harm. Guilt, ever lying under the surface, and self condemnation...Sounded alot like a desperate Doctor with no TARDIS

I don't know if anyone noticed, but the 2 Robots on "Dinosaurs on a Spaceship", were non other than Mitchell and Webb.

Indeed! Although knowing the way they do these things there's an overarching theme so it's hard to take anything at face value. For the record I think Kerr is right about the Doctor being out of sorts, just wrong about this being a new development in his character.

On top of the flickering lights, someone noticed the opening credits are becoming progressively darker too. Did anyone else notice that? It all must be leading to something, probably the events of episode five...

I have to say that my least favorite episodes over the last seasons seem to be the Toby Whithouse ones (Vampires of Venice and The God Complex). They seem to be the least believable to me from my perspective of the Doctor.

Tangentially, I hadn't seen until now just how much Sean Pertwee is starting to look like his dad.
