New Davy Jones Costume for Disney Cruise 2014

Quick update for the belt and the shirt
belt first.
made from scratch.
sculpted the buckle from NSP clay, then made a silicon mould. The buckle was the cast using bronze powder impregnated resin.
the belt was made from real leather, which was kinda a waste, as it was getting covered in rubber barnacles etc , but it is authentic then lol.
the whole lot was brought together , then aged etc to produce the finished item.
nice wee prop.
any process, questions , let me know.

Very little response for this build. :-(
what i'll do is wait till I get it complete, and show the full pack. :confused

Wow dude this looks awesome so far. Good idea with the servos trying to move everything else around. And I agree with alpha about giving the tentacles some variety and curve to get a bit of motion going. What do you think of the Stan Winston vids? I'm just starting into prop making and was thinking about getting a few down the line when I get into more complex stuff...and have a bit more cash haha

Stan Winston stuff is great. I signed up for the package at around $20 a month.
it help a lot,as I'd never done any of this stuff at all, before the Davy jones last year

This is ridiculous!
I'm blown away by your commitment.
I hope your as proud of the work your doing, as I am for you.

Problem .... Pirates boots run about £100. ($160).
next problem, Davy Jones only needs one.
i don't like boot covers ...they tend to loosen off.
bring on EVA foam, an old shoe, and some adhesive.

i'll paint it up, seal it, then add the detailing of barnacles, seaweed and shells

Did you just heat the foam until you could 'mold' it around the shoe? Whatever you did, I love the way you've reskinned those shoes. I also prefer to build the shoes into my costume footwear instead of just a boot cover.

Hi DRG
no heat involved. I just work it round the shoe first , then roughly trim , giving some extra around.
then it's plain old spray carpet glue. the really strong stuff.
Spray both parts and carefully lay into place.
you won't get a second chance lol, but I've worked with EVA foams for a while now, so you get to know the feel.
the leg, and the claw are also made of EVA.
