NEW BSG BLACKBIRD !

:cheers Kip, that's freaking awesome... I haven't posted jack squat in forever on here, but, daaaamn the Blackbird deserves a definite 3 thumbs up. I was going to try scratch building this one on my own, but after seeing yours there's no way I'm going to waste the time. If it's half as nice as your Raider when it's done, it'll be fantastic. Can't wait to see the final build up.

I ditto that.

The Blackbird was also on my "would be nice to scratch" list, but no need, with this awesome kit coming up. I haven't bought the Raider or Base Star yet (with an 8 months old daughter, my modelshoppings this year, has been somewhat restericted), but they are on my definite Wish-list. I have seen the Raider kit IRL though, and if the Black Bird is just half as nice ... whoooojaaa :D

:eek Ooooooo... I love the Raider kit, and I am definitly looking forward to this one. Beautiful work :thumbsup

UPDATE TIME.... :D

Well, itÂ’s been a good long while since I updated this project so with
some free time on this Holiday weekend I figured IÂ’d do just that. :angel

First up are some images of an Engine Pod I tossed together from some
scrap casted pieces. Few bubbles here and there, but good enough to take
some pictures of put together to “show her off “...

engine1.jpg

I put allot of work into the tiny details in each of the engines, and only
a fraction of what you see is there.

enginedetail2.jpg

ThereÂ’s still LOTÂ’S of parts that have
yet to be attached to the engines for their full glory.
IÂ’ll save that for a later time though. :love

Next up is some of the rear detail assembly, as well as the “arms” that
hold the Engines to the ship. Again, LOTÂ’S AND LOTÂ’S of greeblies
have yet to be shown that will get attached to the “arms”.

rear1.jpg

reardetail.jpg

Next up is the top half of the fuselage, again, lotÂ’s more detail to the CGI ship
then the full scale mockup as you can tell from the images. Also, I added all
the tiny details to the rear end of this thing that you will “hardly” be able to see
once the entire rear assemblies are put into place.

But, if a things worth doing. :lol

Lastly, some shots of the custom base that will come with the ship.

base1.jpg

I have never been a fan of the “simple” wooden base so I like to make something
“special” for my bases. As some keen eyed BSG watchers will notice that’s the flight
deck that the Chief assembled his ‘Bird on right down to the striped tape he
used to mask off the work areaÂ… If someone decides to use the vinyl graphic
youÂ’ll need a GENEROUS area to display her in as the sheet measures 10 inches
by 16 inches so thereÂ’s PLENTY of room. :thumbsup

base2.jpg

Well, thatÂ’s all for now, still PLENTY to do but sheÂ’s shaping up quite nicely
I’m happy to say. There will be plenty to show off later on, as well as some “surprises”
down the road.

THANKS for looking. :D

This is looking sharp.

How did you make the base? Did you work up the graphics in Illustrator or Photoshop, then send the file out to be printed on vinyl, or did you work out how to print it yourself? Did you distress the deck while making the graphic, or as an extra step after printing? Love to hear more about your technique.

That is an absolutely astonishing piece of work. :eek

I have been waiting for ages for some talented type to produce the Blackbird and it has finally happened :D

I only have 2 questions - When will it be ready and how much will it cost?

Outstanding job sir...

Just a taste to keep people interested.... :lol

I'll be posting a BIG update when this is ready to go .
It's been a long road to get this done, but I am VERY happy
with how it's been turning out thus far. Keep watching the
Boards as this will be the place I'll be posting more updates

SOON . B)

Oh, and the " goodies " will all be in 1/24th scale, so they
CAN be displayed with other kit's out there in case someone
has a desire to make a FULL hanger bay with lot's of ships . ;)

THANKS Wacky Chimp....

DROOL... Kip you are amazing.....

Question for you, when you start nearing the end of a project do you start chomping at the bit, so to speak, to start your next project. From what you've hinted at, your next few projects sound great too..

Can't wait for the big update. :)

Chris

I am clearing a space on the flight deck and dusting off the tools in eager anticipation. :)

Any chance of a Cylon Troop Carrier next?

Well, if ya don't ask - ya don't get...

Seriously great work. :D

This is astounding. I'd love to see a new series Base Ship or a Resurrection ship too.

This was also on my "To Make Masters Of " list....
Looks like I won't have to now... :cry
Any info on ordering this baby? :love
