New BMF coming

I would love to hear as many "HOW-TO" paint this thing as I can get :) This funky plastic makes me nervous :)

Definitely agree. All the help on making the paint job look top notch would be appreciated. I picked up an airbrush and am learning to use it specifically for this bad boy so Im looking forward to the challenge.

REMINDER - I have surface panel stencils

It's been buried in the thread several pages back so i thought I'd repost. I have a file that contains stencils of all the missing panels. They are printed in reverse. So you print them out on label paper and peel-n-press them onto .15 sheet plastic. Cut and past on the BMF. The results worked flawlessly for me. See pics

There is no charge for them. I am giving them away. Just email me directly at melvillejosh@gmail.com

In the spirit of cooperation I am looking for a scan of the JBOT decals for he 1/48 scale Falcon. JOBT is kaput.

I want to make sure my printer did it right. Should number 68 be just under 3 inches at the top longest part??

So far, the best technique I've seen is a spray of some paint adhesion and then a primer. After that, it's just seasoning to taste.
Would love to know if there are any "SAD" updates to these paint jobs...like 2 weeks later the paint melts off, then explodes, then melts the model, then re-explodes.

Just ordered the Shapeways cockpit set ( back walls and floor/seats ), Radar dish and laser and yoke. Excited.

Earlier I removed the 30 or so screws and fought the BMF apart. Cockpit took a while to get off, but its a press top and bottom and pull fitting, as were the docking rings. To be fair I ended up slicing the length front to back of the canopy...was p*****g me off :angry Then I found the press catches :lol

However If you don't saw the cockpit off top to bottom, theres a nice inner ring you can use to stick the 5mm extension ring to, if thats the way you want to go.

Personally I am going for the extended cockpit.

Painting wise I am going the hycote adhesion aid and bumper paint route that I saw on Jaitea's build

There has been little mention of it but I assume everyone is cutting off the horrific landing gear.

Yes, I definitely did. Planing to either make them flat as in flight or hopefully some sort of landing gear 'flaps' will be produced down the line.

Can someone check this for me. Always weird quoting myself.

Also confused on the printing. I print it out on sticker paper. Peel them off and stick them on plastic. Then which way are they reversed??? Also won't I have a bunch of sticker paper to remove????

Sorry it's late and I am dumb.

Yes, there will be sticky paper to remove. use mineral spirits and it comes right off. On the printing issue i can only offer this: this stencil duplicates the stickers. so as long as the print out is the sam size as the stickers you're good.
