New Batman: Arkham game due this year?

It was announced but folks aren't too happy as a strong rumor is that Rocksteady games won't be working on it like the last two. It was rumored to be a prequel showing batman and joker's first encounter with members of the justice league in it. Hate to say it but i have my doubts that anyone but Rocksteady can pull it off.

I'm just not sold on it being Silver Age. That's a pretty big departure from the feel of the previous games. Not a big fan of the prequel idea either, I'd rather just play the aftermath of Arkham City.

I would be for a more modern first meeting, not Silver Age. They could wrap an interesting store in just restoring order and Gotham after the Arkham City incidents. Another issue is who will be the joker: Mark retired from the role and while the guy who did him in Under The Red Hood did a good job it still wouldn't be the same joker. Mind you if they keep Kevin Conroy as batman I will get it used or on markdown just because he's the best batman lol.

Hamill's "retired" several times now from doing Joker. If the script's good enough he'll be back, he just wants to go out on a high note.

And please, not Joe DiMaggio as Joker. It sort of worked in the context of Red Hood but still sounded too much like Bender.

I agree he'd be good as joker in a pinch but not in the Arkham games. For a while there Hamill did his joker on robot chicken a few times. I can see why he'd retire it as he's as well known for it as he is being Luke. I watched an interview with Kevin Conroy about the arkham games and he said he was glad that the makers were open to the actors making suggestions because there was stuff he knew that batman wouldn't say and fans wouldn't accept. hard to believe they've been these characters for 20 years now thru several series, movies, games and yet DC ended that version of the DC universe.

Where did you read rocksteady is not doing the next game? If that is true I can easily see the next game being a huge flop

They've been toying with the idea of NOT advancing the story for some time now. Weren't there a couple of stories about how the next game would be set in the 1800s or something? Then that turned out to just be a fan mod. And so on and so forth.

Frankly, I don't know that I'd be interested in a "prequel" game. I'd prefer a game that was larger, more open, and allowed me to switch -- from the start -- between Batman, Robin, Catwoman, or any of the other characters from the "Bat family" that they want to include.

I love the 2 previous games. They are definitely worthy of being named 2 of the best games of this generation of consoles. If Rocksteady aren't involved then it wont have there trademark take.

I haven't seen any images or hints of anything on this game yet. With no previews I can't see it coming out this year. I would LOVE more arkham though. BRING IT ON!!

Why couldn't they just focus on some awesome characters like Nightwing or Azrael? Put Batman out of commission a quarter of the way thru the game?

There's a game I would get!

I agree I was thinking more 2014 unless they've been working on this and are just going to slap a name on it. Even a year is next to no time for getting a game done that's this complex.

Eh. Not that excited to hear that Rocksteady's done with the series. Nor that it's a friggin' prequel.

Instead of making a bunch of assumptions, I'll wait until they release more info before deciding to buy. It sounds like they know they have a high bar to meet. They have access to the Arkham engine so I'm not concerned about graphics or gameplay. It's an intriguing story as well, so I'll wait with anticipation.
