New 52 Mr Freeze (New Photos pgs 1 & 6)

Re: New 52 Mr Freeze

I'm about to work on the vaccuform for a while today, and i finished the skeleton of the tank, but nothing significant enough to post yet

Re: New 52 Mr Freeze

Sorry for not posting in a while but I have good and bad news. Good news is that I tried to vacuuform the mold today. Bad news is that I SUCK at vacuuforming. (Pun intended)
I think I used a sheet of plexiglass that was too thick, and after about 13 minutes at 250 degrees it was sagging a good amount. I quickly pulled it over the mold and bam, It barely bent. The thickness was .22 (I got it due to the mold being tall, apparently it was a mistake)
Other good news is that I ordered the goggles, bald cap, and EL wire, which have already arrived.

Stay tuned for updates, and hopefully I can get the vacuuform to be in my favor.

Re: New 52 Mr Freeze

Okay I definitely do suck at vacuuforming...so are there places that do this? I've looked at cloches but I can't really find any that I like.. HELP PLEASE!

Re: New 52 Mr Freeze

Sorry for no updates lately...But I just got in a dome that I ordered from Morgan Depot for a good price. So I can actually continue the rest of the suit now! (of which I will do this weekend).
Also I've been busy with a commissioned Phantasm from the Batman animated film. So although I'm all over the place as of late, I will post stuff very soon! I promise!

Okay here is a pic of what I roughly have (arm clasps, tank, and armor are still in progress)

Re: New 52 Mr Freeze

yes. its glass, its surprisingly not as heavy as you'd think! maybe 2 or 3 pounds but when distributed, its light

Re: New 52 Mr Freeze

Okay so I've been sick the past few days so there still hasnt been too much progress. But do not think of me as idle! So I'll so you guys what I've done so far at least. Below are the shoulder pieces with a first layer of fiberglass resin. It looks like crap at the moment but it will improve!

And here is a preview of another project that I was commissioned to do by a friend, as I mentioned a few posts before this.

Anyway, the resin turned a whitish? did i put too much hardener in it? I'm very inexperienced in resin so help would be much appreciated! Thanks guys!

Re: New 52 Mr Freeze

Today I FINALLY got some work done this weekend, and, with the help of my remarkable girlfriend, we got a lot done.

Here is the tank with 3 coats of fiberglass resin and the fiberglass cloth. I will bondo it this coming up weekend.

Here is the shoulder guard thingies (I'm not really sure what they are..) They have about four coats of resin on them, and I think I'm going to go ahead and bondo it without putting the clothe down.

Now, here is the placement "armor" for the dome. Completely painted and plastidipped. I will post a picture later of it on my body to show it off better.

Here is the fully painted vacuum tube to come out of the tank.

Here is the super soaker gun that I will transform into the freeze gun. I will sand off the logo and also use techniques used by a fellow RPF member CYANFIRE.

And here is a total of what I've done so far minus the tank and shoulder guards. Leaning against the dome is the chest piece/box fully painted and plastidipped.

Re: New 52 Mr Freeze

Okay tiny update. Here's just a test fit that I decided to do. It will look better once I am painted and etc.

Be afraid of the death stare. Also, my head seems to swell up and sometimes feel too big for the dome. Ha..

Anyway, more updates to come this weekend for those following.

Re: New 52 Mr Freeze

Hey guys, as promised, here is the weekend update.

Today I put a last coat of resin on the tank. Last tuesday, I sanded the fiberglass, and, after my body being completely covered with fiberglass splinters, I came to the conclusion that I had too few coats of resin!

Anyway I also bondoed and sanded the front of the tank. It looks really rough right now but tommorrow I will finish it and get rid of all the pin holes and etc.

Also I sanded all of the logos and some of the kiddy looking textures off of the super soaker. I will be installing keyboard cleaner in it upside down, and then painting it later.

Anyways, If you see this, leave a little feedback (as I say every time.) Its getting a little lonely here! :D

Re: New 52 Mr Freeze

Looking good! I have a question about the dome though; are you worried at all about breaking the glass?

Re: New 52 Mr Freeze

@Borvise,

Yes, but it shouldnt unless I slam my head into something (which I'm not planning on doing).

@JS
I don't really understand how you came up with that other than the colors of the gun, but oh well :D

Re: New 52 Mr Freeze

Looking good so far!

You should purchase the hand held fog/smoke gun for your freeze ray. I picked up mine off ebay.

Regards!

Re: New 52 Mr Freeze

@Thodin
Good idea! could you direct me to what you got just so I can have some reference?

@Herotrooper
Haha yeah, If you want, I'd look at all the other guys doing Freeze as well! Ive gotten ALOT of inspiration from guys on this site.

Thanks again guys, the support really fuels me.
