Netflix Recommendations Thread

Recipe for a B film - add a little Predator, some Alien, a tiny bit of Gremlins, some Indiana Jones and a whole lotta Jurassic Park. DNA, a straight to video film, isn't all that bad, but it has some goofy dialogue, terrible over-acting by one actor, and bad special effects, but it's worth a view. From 1997.

Reaper (series)
Puncture
Life (series) starring Damian Lewis

And this one is kind of a no-brainer, but I have gotten a ton of mileage out of the entire X-Files series

I just watched Death Race 2000 in all it's cheesy goodness. I forgot Stallone was in it. He is quite whiny.:lol

If you like British comedies I recommend:

1. Spaced
2. Little Britain (all though I think this has been removed)
3. Come Fly With Me (same guys as Little Britain)
4. Father Ted
5. Black Books

A lot of the British comedies from the late 90's early 2000's are all the same people....just in different roles.

Spaced and Black Books has the same cast almost....just flipped around.
It's like a Shawn of The Dead reunion.

Some of my favorite shows now are British. Thanks Netflix!

I would add:

Shameless
Luther
Sherlock
Being Human

Blood and Bone - movie - Michael Jai White (2009)

Just watched it tonight - was a bit of an updated play on Lion Heart, but MJW is one amazing martial artist and the fight scenes were awesome. The guys the real deal too.

I think this film was a direct to video movie, but I really enjoyed it. If you're not sure who MJW is, he played SPAWN, SETH in Universal Soldier: The Return, Gamble in TDK, and Jax in Mortal Kombat Legacy.

So if you're looking for a no-brainer fight movie with a basic plot and a lot of butt kick'n, check this movie out!

I watched the second season of Sherlock. Only 3 episodes though!:angry
Thankfully, each episode is an hour and a half.

The average one-hour TV program has an actual running time of about 42 minutes - so the Sherlock season is more like 6 episodes. Still way too short, but the quality is much higher than most shows.

With Sherlock making Star Trek movies and Watson off being The Hobbit, I hope we see more of the series.

I just started season 6 of How I Met Your Mother on Netflix - I started season 1 about a month ago and have been doing a bit of a marathon. It's pretty much a guilty pleasure kind of thing... it has enough funny bits (Barney) to make me laugh on occasion and enough of a narrative to keep me interested, although it falls into too many modern day sitcom cliches.

Other Netflix material worth watching...

Super 8
Red State
Jericho (TV)
Hellboy
Donnie Darko
Swingers
The Crow
The Thing
Serenity
The Office (BBC TV)
Spaced (TV - everyone should watch this)
Thor
Captain America
Iron Man 2
Mean Girls
Star Trek (TOS TV)
Jekyll (BBC TV)

I just finished watching this great show called LOST. All 6 seasons are available for streaming. You guys should watch it. The ending will blow you away....

Didn't realize the DVD just came out. I know the 3rd season is starting soon. I've only seen season 1 so this was exciting to me
