Netflix Recommendations Thread

For me, it's the 2nd funniest show of all-time after Seinfeld. Looking forward to the 14 new episodes coming to Netflix in May. :cool

Me too! I can watch the same episode twice and not catch the fast humor the first time.

Just watched Deadfall. Interesting premise. Mostly good actors. It even had a few moments... but overall... just crap. The third act was absolutely atrocious.

Ya I was let down too because I dig Eric Bana and Olivia Wilde is fun to look at. But it was pretty predictable and flat for a thriller.

It may have already been mentioned, but Netflix recently made a deal with someone (WB I think) for Fringe, Revolution, Chuck, 666 Park Avenue, The Following, and several other shows.

Here's a LINK to the article I read mentioning this...

Silent House was terrible. I recommend skipping it.
I wouldn't say terrible, I thought Elizabeth Olsen was very solid in it, even for a typical 'scream queen' type role. The movie was average, formulaic and just plain stupid at times - but for those that like suspenseful scares, it's worth a watch.

It's not a good film by any means, but not quite terrible in my book. I do believe Olsen is one to watch for in future films.

Eric Bana's character started out so interesting, but I felt in the last act, he was suddenly someone completely different and his motivations changed radically, for no reason at all.

I would be interested in seeing her in something else, but this film just... ugh... So much potential, but as you said, became SOOOOO formulaic is just got to be boring and pointless. I still rate it as terrible, but I suppose I could see how some might find a gem in it.

You guy's might laugh, but I LOVED Impostor. Maybe it is because they reused both footage and costumes from StarShip Troopers, but I actually liked the story and it ended pretty well! Certainly low budget, but Gary Sinise was great! Blade Runner meets Starship Troopers.

I discovered a simple, typical, formulaic yet very fun reality series called Tanked on Netflix a couple of weeks ago. Nf only appeared to have one of the three seasons available... but I loved it.

Downton Abbey is on Netflix and everyone should watch that! Charlie Barlett (starring new Checkov and Iron Man) is lots of fun. The underrated Jericho is available (and very RPF friendly, genre-wise). The BBC's Jekyll was a great mini series (with Michelle Ryan & James Nesbitt). Blue Valentine is just good. VHS is a low buget horror flick that works decently enough.

Tons of cool stuff everyone should watch and most of us already have - if only once, even if you hate it: BSG, Chasing Amy, Red State, Donnie Darko, Serenity, The Crow, The Thing, Big Fish (a good Tim Burton flick), Heroes (season 1), Dollhouse, Thor, Captain America...

Netflix stuff I need to watch: Mad Men, Call the Midwife top that list.

I loved the actual short story by Philip K. Dick

OK, again, you guys might groan, but I just watched House Hunting and it is one of the coolest ideas for a film I have seen in YEARS! Why? It is a straight-up Stephen King style horror story. I find many horror films to really be a mystery film with blood and guts and that almost always annoys me. House Hunting isn't perfect, but it plays upon the premise of something just being a certain way. There is no explanation. There is no reason. It just is and if you happen upon it... well, it sucks to be you. Marc Singer as well as the teenage boy leave a little something to be desired, but I would LOVE to see more movies like this!

That's a surprise as Marc Singer is usually really good in the stuff he does.

ESPN 30 for 30 documentaries.

Even if you are not into sports, they are really good.

I especially liked the one on Bo Jackson.

I'm really not a sports fan but yes the Bo Jackson one was awesome. The Razor Ramone / Scott Hall one was messed up.

Cosmopolis... don't waste your time. Couldn't even get to the 30 minute mark. So painful and pretentious.

I just started watching Flashpoint but also added a slew of James Bond movies along with Justice League and Justice League United, and Batman Beyond to my queue.
