Nerf Gun Props? YES!

Looks good, where did you get that mini temp gauge, like a food thermometer or something? Detail with the rivets looks pretty sweet. I need to build up my doodad collection to add neat little touches like that. Good work.

Good spot! It originally started as a Blade 2 replica but I really wasn't happy with the end result, so rather than trash it, left it to one side for a few months, resurrected it and then kinda made things up as I went along with other projects adding stuff from my bitz box as the urge took me ...

I got myself a little rotary tool (a Dremel clone) and decided that a proper celebration required the utter destruction of something.

I wanted to have a play around with some rusting techniques that I've seen used to great effect too. This one uses liquid masking film and ground spices for a slightly different look, and it comes up smelling really nice too :D

Dremel destruction ftw! \m/

Awesome - you can make plastic appear to be rusting! Spice it up!

This is the gift that keeps on giving: I got my friend a Star Wars Bowcaster for his birthday, and have since painted it up and am giving it to him again for Christmas!

Since it was brand spanking new out-of-the-box, I started by roughening it up a bit - I used a technique I like to call 'dropping it onto a pebble beach and kicking the ****** out of it' - to add a bit of battle-wear, and then a matt black base-coat. Chewbacca's actual Bowcaster is a pretty boring affair, as it's plain black with a few scratches and that's about it... I decided to give it a little more personality, and so I decided to go with a wooden stock and some brighter metal parts for the knobs and dials.

I also held off giving it my normal coat of dirt at the end, as the worn-but-clean look is kind of appealing, but I'll give him the option if he wants it later on...

P.S. If you're thinking of getting one of these to mod, whatever you do, DON'T attach the bow to the body when you take it out of the box. It clicks into place and locks the blaster shut, effectively stopping you from ever being able to open it up to get at the internals.

I picked up a Nerf gun at our annual neighborhood garage sale.

First time attempting a repaint and I'm pleased. Done with rattle can black and silver, hit the black with steel wool and finished the silver with several black washes. I sanded most of the text off, leaving just the Nerf logo.

Which Nerf gun is that? Strongarm?

ok, here we go. I've been lingering in the shadows for maybe a few years now, particularly this thread. It has been a massive inspiration and source of information and i thank each and every one of you for adding to my brain. Here's just a sample of average photos of my work, hope they please and would love some feedback if you can spare a bloke your two cents,

This thread is inspiring - I've been gathering materials and reading endlessly to absorb information from tutorials and explanations in this thread.

So far, I have 8 Mavericks, 1 Spectre, 1 Barrel Break, and my son's Zombie Strike Clear Shot in a crate waiting for the New Year when I'll be painting them in a friend's workshop (I don't have a place to paint). And there are more guns coming in - another Spectre, 3 Nightlites, a Longstrike, 2 Scouts and assorted other guns. I figure that if I cannot sell them after I pained them, I can always provide my son with birthday gifts for his friends...

I found this thread while looking for custom Nerf guns, and i'm amazed by the skill and devotion of it's members. and i found it just as i'm getting close to finishing my first themed Nerf gun. so hopefully i can post that soon

This is a great repaint. I may have to pick one up to mod myself.

Success! After hours of labor, my first themed And fully painted Nerf gun is complete. And before there are any comments, the idea did come from a Youtuber and i liked it so much that i did my own. So here's my Vault-Tec themed Slingfire
WIN_20151226_21_54_11_Pro.jpg
The main part of the gun is krylon black and blue with some yellow. It has black paint and silver Rub n Buff for weathering, The stock also uses krylon blue, and have just the black paint since a wooden stock wouldn't reveal any metal underneath. I also put on the Vault-Tec logo as best as i could by cutting out a picture and using the picture to cut it out of Frog tape with a box cutter

I also painting an 18 round drum magazine to match. i left the top part un-painted so it would slide in and out easier

Hope you Enjoy :D

I made the pressure gage from a drawer pull bought at any hardware store.
I drilled a hole through the bottom and glued a small screw in the hole to mount the gage onto a surface
I printed the gage face then cut it out and punched a small hole through to help hold the dial in place.
I cut a cork to fill the extra space .
The dial and lenses are from a wrist watch.
You can fill the finished gage with resin or cut a small thin piece of plastic as the lense.
