hi guys, im really sorry about doing this but i need some help here, ive been building some pepakura army of two masks for quite some time now, and my brother and i wear them to airsoft. sadly they get damaged over time and i have to make more and its very time contsuming.

im looking to make a master mould of one and then just cast more when we need them. but im not sure how to make the mould of the mask

i know how to make mould of helmets i.e halo helmets, but never done a mask before, its a weird shape. i know i would need a 2 part mould
BUT DONT KNOW HOW TO DO THAT WITH A MASK

PLEASE HELP :p

First, if you are not the original Pep maker you might consider asking them if it is okay to mold it before you move forward.

After that, maybe some photos will help? For a mask I imagine it could be done in one part.

General Modeling
Discuss scale models from movies, television shows and other media or showcase your original designs and collection. :rolleyes Try in replica costumes and post a pic so it can be seen. You want to do a mold right?? Not crown moulding lol???

yeah i didnt design the orignal pep but im not intending to sell these, just personal use for me and bro, its just annoying to have to keep making these things through the whole process.

yeah im after a full mold so i can make more and use the mold again, just not sure how.

this is the one i want to replicate, it fits the best :)

and thanks

If you do a silicone mold, it doesn't have to be a two part mold. Or if you have the time and patience a brush mold of mask making latex (several layers). But make sure you do a glass mothermold shell over the cured silicone/latex to maintain the shape.

ive seen vids of the brush molding but didnt realise i could do it with a mask, when ive seen the helmets they always sussoened in air on a stand so you can reach it all, thats why i wasnt sure with a mask that would lie flat on table, and didnt realise a block mold would work for this :D just

While a box mold WOULD work, you'll end up spending a lot more money that you should, because you're just filling in all of the negative space with wasted rubber. You'll achieve the same result with a lot less money by sticking with a brush-on mold. The detail will all be there, and your support shell will keep the rubber in the right shape.

Watch this video, and pretend the bust is a face mask, and the way the bottom of the bust is glued to the board is the same way the back of your mask would be. Making a Brush-On Mold Using Rebound® 25 - Part 1

Now, the follow-up video showing how the support shell keeps the mold rubber in shape. Making a Brush-On Mold Using Rebound® 25 - Part 2

Your biggest cost will be in your silicone rubber. See how much less the brush-on mold uses? That'll end up saving you a ton, and the brush-on mold stretches off over details, where your poured mold would see more damage.
